The mayor can’t fire the police chief on his own. It actually goes before a review
Board. Buttigieg can’t just wave a magic wand. South Bend doesn’t work that way.

That kind of thing seems appropriate to throw at a mayor who has demonstrated no interest in black lives and is trying to protect bad cops. But Buttigieg's totally in the right place on race and is struggling to manage a very difficult situation that doesn't have an easy answer. He didn't deserve to be spoken to like that.

way it is in KC,MO. I’m guessing it’s true in all large cities. I usually like Swalwell, but that was just an ignorant thing to say on his part.

I wanted Mayor Pete to have an opportunity to reply to Swalwell saying that. i wish Mayor Pete had been a little more aggressive. He should have pulled a Gillibrand on him.
