After the debates, I feel so much better about our chances in 2020.

I was concerned that with this many candidates, the primary process would look like a circus, and I have been worried that if Donald Trump can be elected in the first place, then his re-election is entirely possible. But the debates so far show that the primary process will be (mostly) a serious, focused, productive discussion. ANY of the people on that stage would make a better president than Donald Trump, and the person who prevails over 20 candidates is going to be someone who is really good.

And we're talking 20 very diverse candidates--not just diverse in terms of demographics but skill set and resume. They are white, black, Hispanic, men, women, left, center, senators, congresspeople, governors, cabinet secretaries, mayors, and a vice president.

And our bench is deep, young, and talented. Even if someone like Pete Buttigieg is not nominated this time around, he is a 37-year-old better at framing progressive issues than anyone I've heard in... well... ever. Eric Swalwell will be a force in California politics for a long time to come. Michael Bennet and Amy Klobuchar are refreshingly boring in their seriousness about policy and it feels good knowing they are helping shape our legislation. And of course there are our firebrands like Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. The future is bright (not to mention female). Jay Inslee will lead the way on climate change. And Joe Biden is a great elder statesmen, a reminder of what it looks like to dedicate your life to public service despite great personal tragedy.

I am a very proud Democrat right now.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Our chances in 2020 depend a lot on the level of Russian interference. Frankly, that worries me. Arkansas Granny Jun 2019 #2

or, for that matter, Hillary Clinton?

We should be very worried about 2020 and everyone support whoever wins this "food fight" with everything we got.

This has nothing to do with the talent and conviction of our candidates.
