"I failed" at increasing racial diversity on the police force in a small town is not a great calling card for electoral success and I've been embarrassed for pundits trying to give him credit for that answer.
His theme had been that we need to run our federal government like the best-run cities and towns, but "I failed" seems completely counter to that argument.
