https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/kamala-harris-black-citizenshipWe Traced The Smears Against Kamala Harris To Obama Birthers And Neo-Nazis
Just as Barack Obamas US citizenship and background became a full-fledged conspiracy theory promoted at the time by Donald Trump Harris has also been targeted with disinformation questioning her legitimacy as a US citizen and race. Obama birther conspiracy theorists and prominent neo-Nazis, including Andrew Anglin, have questioned her eligibility to run for president, and shes been labeled an anchor baby.
In fact, Harris was born in Oakland to an Indian mother and Jamaican father, and is eligible to run for president.
Seeing the tweets declaring that Kamala isnt black enough because her parents are from Jamaica and India, I had an immediate flashback to the 2008 campaign, Shauna Daly, who led the fight against online smears on the Obama campaign, told BuzzFeed News. That campaign faced an early wave of rumors about Obamas race and religion, which later coalesced into false claims about the presidents birthplace whose most famous champion was Donald Trump.

As to that large sub-set, they are called racists.

(10,828 posts)The way to deflate this garbage is by exposing the purveyors. This sort of attack is multi-leveled. Attack Kamala Harris on the basis of race, false disqualifiers and questions of legitimacy and inflame the electorate, specifically Democrats. But also any undecideds or wobbly Trump supporters.
Trump and his odious enablers would like nothing better than to have us at one another's throats, split us on racial/ethnic lines and laugh all the way back to the White House for another disastrous term.
We hang together or we hang separately, as one wise man once said.

(14,971 posts)The tweets author is Ali Alexander, who previously went by the name Ali Akba. Hes a black MAGA-world personality who launched a website for other fringe Trump supporters unable to find a home in more traditional conservative media. Alexander recently joined Jacob Wohl and Laura Loomer on their trip to Minnesota to make a film about Rep. Ilhan Omar in which they floated conspiracies about her background. Hours after sending his viral tweet, Alexander followed up with a live stream to further explain his claim.

<<Ali Akbar, now President of the National Bloggers Club, is one of the conservative blogosphere's most infamous characters. He began his campaign of notoriety with a crime spree in 2006, blazing a six-year trail of fraud. That's him up there, in the mug shots. Akbar's story is as improbable as the Tea Party movement itself, and a lesson on the privileges of power in the age of Citizens United. How did a petty crook rise to these heights in such a short time? Why does he enjoy such influential connections today?
We ask these questions because we see an emerging bipartisan consensus that Akbar's National Bloggers Club (NBC) is entirely notional. Akbar has never applied to the IRS for 501(c)3 status -- despite having claimed as much on the NBC Facebook page. While the NBC requires an unusual amount of personal information from donors, they do not offer those donors an EIN (Employer ID Number) to make their contributions tax deductible....
This would be less distressing if Akbar didn't have a long history of covering up his tracks and minimizing his criminal past. In 2006, he stole items from a woman's home; he later broke into a vehicle, stole a debit card, and withdrew money from the victim's account, earning a felony conviction. Yet this record did not keep Akbar out of Republican politics.
Barely a year later, Akbar was accused of discussing election fraud tactics. The accuser, Joey A. Dauben, was a former colleague. In coverage of the controversy, Akbar was frequently and mistakenly identified as a John McCain campaign staffer due to his involvement in Bloggers for McCain, a "cooperating" website independent from the campaign itself. Akbar also caught flak for scrubbing the web to cover the tracks of Michael Meissner, a former police chief who was charged with posing as a woman and soliciting photos of underaged boys...>>

(5,812 posts)What total bullshit!!!!!!!
Kamala was born in Oakland -- what? She has a phony Cal birth certificate? I am sure that Gavin Newsom would provide all of these assholes with an exemplified copy of it!!!!!
She has a right to identify as a person of color -- that's HER business, not that of the RW crazies to say what ethnicity and/or race she is.
Gawd damn nut case RW MF45 lovers!!!!

(1,568 posts)but they were coming from a different direction. It was mostly in the space surrounding the "#ADOS" movement and what not. I think I mentioned it on here when I saw it, and I thought it was strange the type of criticism she was getting. You know, criticizing her identity rather than her policies. Back then it was a lot of newer questionable accounts posting divisive content, but there were also some legit people who are clearly real humans and American citizens. I'm not sure who was pushing whose message on that, but in the end it's all the same. It doesn't surprise me they are now using the same claims again, and now it's coming from a more right-wing accounts.
