Biden said something that Harris and lots of other people said was hurtful. Biden apologized

ďfor the pain or misconception that I caused.Ē

So why are people still attacking Harris and others for saying she found his words hurtful after he admitted himself that they were?

Itís really time to let it go, people.

37. I'm sorry Cha

It just seems so redundant in one thread. I remember when we both were supporters of Candidate Obama and fought against those taking words out of context. She clearly accepted his apology, but the issue remains important to her, and no you canít rewrite history on the issue of not supporting federal busing. Do I think that makes him unelectable? Absolutely not.

Iím puzzled as to why he would be for states rights on a civil rights issue. The reason why it had to be done is states were not implementing it, and still treating African Americans as less than and somehow not worthy because of the color of their skin. Issues like this one SHOULD NEVER be a states rights issue. To side with segregationists at a time when there was so much open racism is deeply disturbing for a Democrat. My husband, like Kamala benefited greatly from schools being desegregated. He has several life long friends since they were 8 years old because of it also, both black and white.

Schools where black kids went to school were underfunded and many were run down. There was no money coming into them. Biden said he supported better funded schools back then etc, did he propose a bill to do that? I have not found one.

At any rate, both of them will be fine. Iím not worried about any of our Democratic Candidates. I think they could all take on Trump and thatís what we all should be doing. We need to focus on getting him the hell out of the White House.

(Just in case anyone is wondering, Iím not a sock. I am the original SunsetDreams but was unable to get into my account after taking a break due to personal issues. I have discussed this with A MIRT team member and sent an email to EarlG)

You Better Believe It there was so much of that going on against Obama on DU.

I seriously donít think the ones you posted that link to meant ALL Biden supporters. There is only a handful that Iíve seen over and over. Itís a troubling trend when we should be aiming all of our ire at Trump. For anyone to think that our candidates will not have differences of issues and call each other out on them is something I donít understand. There will be more of it in debates, thatís what they are there for and itís only going to make our candidates stronger whomever ends up being the nominee to go against that idiot in the White House.

I agree with you. Although, some of this mess seems a bit contrived when itís the same ones doing it. Maybe thatís not fair, itís just an observation. My sole purpose is defeating Donald Trump and I would like to think that desire is held by all of us here at DU. I know Biden would make a great President, he has the experience in spades. Thatís a given. I just personally at this time feel we need some new blood in there. As much as President Obama is hated on the right, I worry that having Biden as the nominee will galvanize the right and the general election will become a referendum on their Administration. Should he become the nominee, I will back him 110% and fight tooth and nail to get him elected, as I would for any of our Democratic Candidates whether I supported them in the primary or not. This country absolutely cannot take another 4 years of Trump. You think he is bad now, winning will only embolden him more.

She accepted his apology, but didn't accept his apology.

Hartsville, South Carolina(CNN) Sen. Kamala Harris said Sunday that she applauds former Vice President Joe Biden's apology on his comments about his ability to be civil and work with segregationist senators in the 1970s, but stopped short of absolving him of all of his past remarks on issues of race.

...... but there has to be reasons for doing so. This is just one of them. I believe Harris supporters are defending her, and I believe Biden supporters are defending him, but if one is honest with oneself, there is only one person who can't seem to move on after Biden's apology. Her own words prove this is true. I think you and I both know that as long as she believes there's something to gain from extending this issue, she will continue to do so as long as the media keeps ramping it up.This may not be the answer you were seeking or expecting but it's the only honest one that I have.

54. Here is my answer....

.... and once again I will try to "be specific".
Harris will beat this dead horse as long as she can see blood running out of its nostrils. Her half-hearted attempt at accepting Joe Biden's apology proves she is not done with this issue.

As time passes, more and more people are beginning to see things with a little more clarity. They are beginning to see that Kamala Harris launched her months in the making plan to attack Joe Biden during the debate. As I have mentioned to you before, Harris's mischaracterization of Biden's interactions with a segregationist laid the groundwork for this attack. Without any proof whatsoever, no video, no witness, no audio, no written proof, Harris accused Joe Biden of praising and coddling a segregationist. As has been proven, his work with Eastland was to pass legislation that was beneficial to the entire country, and had absolutely nothing to do with race. If you will recall, both Jim Clyburn and John Lewis have by their own admission, done the same thing as Joe Biden did. I believe this is where you decided to go silent during our previous encounter. Let me know if everything I have stated in this post is untrue, and why it is untrue. " Please be specific".

Biden supporters letting it go? Kamala Harris wishes.

...issue that could have been brought up and resolved privately. As much as the issue was important to a lot of ppl there are a lot of people that were never in the position of having to address it. I grew up in a small northwestern town. Im the same age as Harris but this issue was not part of my life as we all went to school together no matter what color we were. So some are kind of confounded..scratching their heads..wondering why this particular issue has been used to win a debate/contest/election..whatever...when we should all be directing this at trump.

49. You should take your own advice. You should also call out

those who are blaming it on Biden supporters. You must have missed the returnees who used Michelle Obama to attack Biden with disgusting twisted lies and spin about her answers to yet more questions about Kamalaís accusations.

You should take your own advice.
If I were to vote in a presidential

50. She had t-shirts...a planned attack...hurtful only because it didnt work as she intended.

Also because i was angry, I looked into her time as AG and DA. I will only say, i was not impressed and this will cause us trouble in a general.

55. It's schadenfreude

Sen. Harris thought she was so cute when she threw that pre-planned and well-rehearsed bombshell, completely caricaturing what Biden actually said.

It worked for a while Ö but now that the truth has come out and polls are getting back to where they were, it is very satisfying.

In my opinion, Biden had nothing to apologize for because pretty much everyone knew what he said was not racist. It was just spun into something Biden didn't say.
