New Republic pulls down homophobic op-ed about Pete Buttigieg by an openly gay literary critic

The author argued that because Buttigieg waited until his early 30s to come out as gay, he would be too preoccupied with sex and drugs to be an effective president.

It was so bizarre and disgusting that I wondered if the site had been hacked. There was no way, I thought, that that article had passed the editor (or who makes the publishing calls) and cleared for being published.

and I was hoping people would tweet, email, etc to get them to take it down. Had this been Breitbart, Alex Jones or the like I wouldn't have posted it. But this was from a magazine with a storied past and a liberal reputation. It needed to be seen frankly there was no way to describe it and do it justice.
