omg...how anyone can not absolutely LOVE this man and want him to be the next president is beyond me. I'm not sure America even deserves someone so genuinely GOOD.
I can't picture any of the other candidates doing this in order to have a conversation and learn from REAL people.

(37,748 posts)I'd thought if one didn't want to watch a video, they were free to make that choice. I can only guess you were unable to make that choice.
Your visual oppression is noted and given all the credibility it in fact, warrants.
(unless of course, your little bumper sticker was merely additional petulance lacking anything substantive. Again. But I'd go with the oppression tack, much better optics for you... no pun intended)

(25,183 posts)that I think O'Rourke's videos, while possibly considered "cute" are not answering the issues that Americans want addressed in this election. If he has a good debate performance next week, then his frivolities may be a footnote to his successful campaign for President, but if he gets his hiney handed to him as happened at the last debate, then he will be seen as merely ridiculous.
I'm betting on the latter, but allow the possibility, however remote, of the former.

(2,113 posts)He has almost as many detailed plans as Warren. Every single effing thing he does that would lead to any other candidate to get showered with praise is ignored and then the national media will take one irrelevant nano second and twist it into some disparaging story.
It's ridiculous. The only other candidates with more DC experience than Beto are Biden and Sanders. Warren and Beto have the same amount of time in Congress. Beto has THREE times the Congressional experience that Kamala has. I wish the supporters or other candidate would just be honest and admit that they don't like him because he's a threat to whoever they want to win.
Texas has more delegates than the first 4 early states combined. Texas has 38 electoral votes and if Trump loses Texas he can't win re-election even with all of the rust belt and every traditional swing/battleground state going to him. Up until June 30th Beto raised about 6 times as much as both Castro and Biden in Texas. He also raised almost THREE TIMES what Trump raised in Texas...in about HALF the time.
It is EXTREMELY foolish to write Beto off if Democrats want to beat Trump.

(2,113 posts)Donations in Texas for Beto are SIX times what they are for Biden for all but two weeks of the first two quarters. Texas is Beto country and those Texas delegates are his for the taking. All he has to do is have a good showing in one of the early states and he is fully capable of sweeping the Texas delegates.

(25,183 posts)the 1-3% range, it doesn't matter how many people throw money at him.
As for Texas being Beto country, we'd be having a much different conversation if if were Senator Beto O'Rourke running for president.

(2,113 posts)He didn't do bad last time. The moderators in the first half were terrible and allowed people to attack others without allowing rebuttals.
Beto has no problem defending his positions. It's short sighted for people to blame Beto for awful moderation.

(27,995 posts)I thought Beto did a good job overall in that interview, but I take strong exception to that "he's one of my heroes" comment.
John McCain was my Senator for 31 years and never once did I vote for him. While I respect and honor his military service to our country, his conservative stances and attitude on many issues were very problematic. He voted against the creation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He also had a history of voting against civil rights legislation, like the 1990 Civil Rights Act and also made racial slurs over the years.
I don't know if Beto only said it to pander to Meghan or if McCain really is one of his "heroes". But either way, it didn't sit well with me at all.
