"Vice President Biden..." "Mr Vice President..."
Those candidates, especially Harris and De Blasio, made a stupid plan namechecking him at every turn.
These debates are not really worthwhile. Yang expressed that perfectly at the end. Everyone is time limited to give their prepared lines and if you don't hurry you'll be cut short. So constantly bringing it back to Biden, trying to jab at him and make a name for yourself backfired. Every time they went after him his hand shot up letting the moderators know they can't move on without giving him the right of reply. Every time they did that was one more chance for Biden to speak. One less chance for someone else. Tell me what you're for, not who you're against in the Democratic debate.

1. I am becoming more sensitive to ageism
I saw it with Mueller last week, too. My unscientific and totally subjective take on this: As we grow older and wiser, it takes us a minute to respond because we are actually taking the time to listen to the question and then have to sort through a lot more experience before responding. Nuance is time-consuming. In a short-attention-span world, this looks like faltering, stammering, even aphasia.
In the world of true dialogue and diplomatic skills, it is an asset. In Biden's case, candidates are dragging out decades-old examples of how he has evolved. It's ending up making him look like someone who can learn and admit when he was wrong. It is highlighting his menschness. Having said that, some are able to do both at the same time--be thoughtful and respond quickly: Warren and Mayor Pete stand out to me this morning. It's certainly an interesting show. I started out with Harris. I'm backing farther away from her for president and want her to be AG. I don't know where I'll land. But it will not be on one of the vultures who are circling to land when Joe Biden falls. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

3. As people are looking back at this debate..and not in the heat of moment
(boy was it hot at our house.. lots of boo birds).. but they are seeing VP Biden as the one who stood strong and took it on and came back.. he was taking incoming in from all directions.. like no one else.. did he flub a few lines.. of course.. even on the morning talk shows.. he is showing his chops are as good as ever and better than the rest.. I mean that.. he really did the job.. and did not fold.. and that is what we need standing in that gale of hate coming out of DC..
