Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJoe Biden just gave an incredible speech
He simultaneously defined what is America, the idea behind it and how Trump is the antithesis of all of that.
I dont think its hyperbolic to say this speech will go down in history. It was not just a mere campaign speech, it was a defining moment.

(10,828 posts)Those who were unable to catch it should be on the lookout for a replay because it was firm, clear and uplifting in its tone and content. It also received a rousing ovation. Between this and the Anderson Cooper interview, Joe Biden is on fire.
This is his moment and purpose, a fight for the soul of the country. It was a clarion call.
We can do this!

"...we have a president with a toxic tongue who has publicly embrace the rhetoric of racism and hate." And he drew a clear and direct analogy between Hitler and the toxic-tongued one.

(43,123 posts)well-earned by his decades at the highest levels of public life. Everyone's griped about Trump as narcissist, egotistical, amoral, corrupt. But this was different. This speech, without using any of that verbage, linked Trump's deeds and motivations to a readily understandable portrayal of Trump's lack of soul and lack of gravitas, without ever saying the words! Biden made us feel like we were peering into the abyss of Trump's inner morass.
It was not the most eloquent speech, or the most high-minded, it wasn't Biden puffing his stature or pushing himself over the rest of the field, it almost had an element of humility, it was like saying, "I'm Joe Biden, you know who I am, and look at this creep that's running the country! We have to do something about this really quick!!"
Artful. Much, much brainpower went into this, and most of it was Biden's, he's been consistent on portions of this theme most of this year. A man who can craft this perspective, and shepherd his speechwriters to mold and polish it, has a good mind and a solid understanding of the country and the presidency.
I'm not all in for Biden, but he moved mountains this day.

(43,123 posts)it really doesn't matter if Biden is the nominee or not. This speech set the tone of the campaign, a blueprint for all to follow. The miscreant in the White House is so obvious, the subject almost writes itself. The difficult part is staying on message. It would be a mistake to portray Trump for what he is and then move on to policies and solutions for taxes and all the rest. You have to do both.
