(33,643 posts)There's some words for you.
Using one's dog as a literary device in this manner is just implying that something is very obvious.
I'm down on SS as well but unless this was her actual response to a black woman (which your thread does not show) ... let's not make shit up.

Not saying she didn't, I dunno ... but the OP isn't showing that happening.

(58,785 posts)what they are complaining about. Years of it, actually.
Sanders, bless his heart, is saddled with the history of extremely insulting behavior by many of his followers who took great offense at the AA bloc for their refusal to follow in Sanders' train. No surprise if AAs don't like and haven't forgotten those who acted out their cluelessness and/or antagonism by explaining black issues to them, over and over and over, as if they were too stupid to understand their own interests.
Can't expect that to somehow be forgotten in this "deja vu all over again, and did it ever actually stop?" primary.
Btw, THIS should help understand what was behind much of the acting out that some in Sanders' populist faction became genuinely famous for:
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/beautiful-minds/the-personality-trait-that-is-ripping-america-and-the-world-apart/
There has been an increasing recognition in psychology that personality traits interact with messaging from leaders. "A crucial skill for politicians is... to speak the 'language of personality'... by identifying and conveying those individual characteristics that are most appealing at a certain time to a particular constituency." They found that voters select politicians whose traits match their own personality. ...
...Perhaps the most important interaction in the world today, however, is that between antagonism and populism. The core feature of populism is an anti-establishment message and a focus on the central importance of the people. The anti-establishment message portrays the political elite as corrupt and evil, and disinterested in the interests of "the pure people." ... the essential divide among populists is "the people versus the powerful."
In a recent series of studies ... the largest and most systematic investigation into the question: What happens when antagonistic citizens receive an anti-establishment message? They found strong support for the notion that the anti-establishment message of populists resonates the most with highly antagonistic people. This finding was confirmed in seven countries across three different continents. Antagonism predicted support for populists for both right-wing ... and left-wing populists.
And so...just don't be surprised as it continues.

(58,785 posts)would you consider yourself part of? He draws more than just his two main ones of anti-capitalism/socialism types and populists from both right and left. Such as romantics who are drawn by the thought of being part of a great movement.

(58,785 posts)eventually vote happily for our nominee but see supporting Sanders now as a way of stepping up the drumbeat for the whole party. Didn't want to offend you if being a closet Biden supporter, for instance, were to describe you best.

'Some black people have taken offense to what Susan Sarandon tweeted' is a proper headline/explanation of the circumstances.

(58,785 posts)But hope Scientific American's article provided a little insight into some of those who're already "enlivening" the debate. I haven't been paying attention to whatever "berniebro" types are colloquially called now, or which candidates some are moving on to, but Sanders has some on staff who are doing just that.

(92,061 posts)polarizing figure from her part in trying to influence people not to vote for the Democratic nominee in 2016, and that she does not seem to be aware of that is astonishing
In my view she is more detrimental, and sure as hell wont help the Sanders campaign beyond his base which is what he needs, and a big reason why Elizabeth Warren is gaining momentum at his expense

I had no idea hundreds of thousands of Americans, particularly African Americans, were being held in jail for months or years, even though they've never been convicted of a crime, simply because they can't afford bail. I've learned a lot. I see the racial disparities clearer than ever."
