Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumQuestion for all those who have picked a candidate
As the primaries and caucuses take place next year it becomes apparent that your preferred candidate has no path to win the nomination, should they:
A. Drop out immediately and back one of the front runners
B. Fight on to the convention, attacking the front runners in hopes of damaging them enough that the delegates will be forced to look for an alternative.

(19,240 posts)To rephrase the question:
a. End the primary early so the GOP knows who the eventual nominee will be so they can spend a good long time creating a Big Lie like "Gore is a Liar" and "Gore is the same as Bush". Clinton/Obama going down to the wire cost the GOP valuable time when they could have been trashing Obama's character. Since they did not know who would win, they had to keep pretending to support both.
or
b. Kneecap all the Democratic candidates so that none of them has a snowball's chance in hell of beating a dead fish in the 2020 general.
How about this?
A. Drop out if you run out of funds or decide to support another candidate (and maybe dangle for a VP slot or SOS or cabinet position)
B. Positive only! Debate policies but not personalities! Eyes on the Prize (ousting Trump)!

(25,183 posts)Look at all the minor skirmishing going on right now (this far out!) here on this board between supporters of 5% or less candidates. I look for all hell to break loose when the superdelegates get to weigh in for the second ballot.
