instead of placing the highest-polling candidates at the center. That positioning gives those candidates an advantage in the minds of debate watchers - even if it's subconscious - and results in a corresponding subconscious devaluation of the remarks and opinions of those on the ends. It's like, Oh, ABC must have thought these two in the center were the best, that's why they put them in the center, so who cares about the losers on the ends?
