Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI'm stunned that Harris isn't polling better in California.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/democratic_nomination_polls/Shes probably my second choice.
Maybe thats the problem.
She might be too many peoples second choice but not first.

(10,868 posts)The outright sexists and the closet sexists would never go for that.
Plus, Warren would need midwestern help.
I suggest she picks Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown. Hed annihilate Pence in a debate.
The only problem is Ohio has A GOP Governor so wed lose a Senate seat until a special election.

(3,322 posts)But could also like Biden/Abrams. BUT yes, can also see Warren/Harris. Huge huge huge opportunity for a women/woman ticket. Though I thought Warren/Pete ticket would be interesting. DAMN, this cycle is SOOOOOOOO good for the Dems!!!!!

Id vote for Pete if he had a chance. He is brilliant.
If you are inferring that I am in any way anti woman or anti gay, you are WAY off base.

(12,516 posts)If you dont WIN, you simply get more of what we have.
But you could run a ticket just to prove a point and end up worse off.

(47,351 posts)Meanwhile, Harris's popularity is on the rise. She is my 2nd choice, though on some days she is my 1st. We have a really great field to choose from.

(38,958 posts)Harris just doesnt seem to be gaining traction, that she is not doing so in her home state to me is more an indicator than a surprise.

(3,145 posts)She is the LAST person on my list. Dead last. Hold my nose hard and vote 'D' last.
I dislike authoritarians, of any ideology, and she is, in my observation and opinion, highly authoritarian in outlook, attitude and general personality.
'Better than Trump' is *all* I will say.

Well, maybe in one debate.
Do you have examples?

(3,145 posts)I *like* a good bit of what she says; I'm scared as hell of her as an executive. I've been working on getting my Irish citizenship (hard to do, all records were destroyed) since Cheeto Benito got elected; I will continue the process if she becomes POTUS, although I think the world will be in much less danger, i don't really want to live under her.
She's been my A.G and Senator, and frightens me.

(4,484 posts)She's probably my second choice. Her or Warren.
It greatly surprises me because she is wellspoken, has a good platform, good ideas, and has not made any serious gaffes.
That said, the election is still a ways off. I could see any of the top five winning this. I don't think this primary is the "two-person race" the media wants us to believe it is. A lot of people just aren't paying that much attention.
For example, my parents have yet to watch a single debate.

(7,447 posts)and it shows. Obama got some amazing people to work for him that helped him, but I think when you have so many campaigns at once, those folks get spread pretty thin.
I have no doubt she's learned a lot this time around, and will do better in the next run. Probably the same can be said of some of the other second tier candidates.
The reality is, it's probably down to Warren and Biden as her momentum is undeniable and he's certainly retained a large core of support...and next time around (let's hope 2024) none of those three (including Bernie) is running again, so our 2024 nominee is likely coming down to Harris, Buttigieg, maybe O'Rourke and then probably one or two new faces who waited on this round.
On paper and I think talent level, she's the best which is why she's my pick, but I can clearly see it ain't happening for her this time around.

(6,793 posts)is way down on my list. Would love to see Biden, Warren, ORourke, or Buttegeig as President. I will vote for whom ever is our nominee. She would make a good AG. No doubt she would whip the Department of Justice back into shape.
