Bernie Sanders campaign announces new women hires...

%%%%
"The campaign says that now, every single one of its teams — management, political, policy, organizing, communications, advance, digital, and fundraising — has women, and predominantly women of color, in leadership positions. Overall, the national leadership team is around 70% women.

"The women coming on board include: René Spellman, deputy campaign manager, a Bernie 2016 alumna who has worked in the Obama White House; Analilia Mejia, political director, a union organizer who was honored by President Obama as a "Champion of Change"; Sarah Badawi, deputy political director, previously the legislative affairs director for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee; Claire Sandberg, national organizing director, a Bernie 2016 alumna and previously the deputy campaign manager for Abdul El-Sayed's gubernatorial run in Michigan; Dr. Heather Gautney, deputy director of policy, formerly a senior policy advisor on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee and a researcher for Bernie 2016; Arianna Jones, communications director, a Bernie 2016 alumna with experience leading media strategy for progressive clients; Sarah Ford, deputy communications director, a Bernie 2016 alumna who served as the communications director for Cynthia Nixon's 2018 gubernatorial campaign in New York; Briahna Joy Gray, national press secretary, a former attorney and senior politics editor at The Intercept; Georgia Parke, senior social media strategist, who worked in Sen. Sanders' Senate office since 2016; and Robin Curran, digital fundraising director, formerly the email director at the Democratic National Committee."

saying something negative about a black man.

Seriously though, She has opinions that may be different than yours, and probably comes from a perspective different than yours. And you may not like her as I dislike many of the people you probably deem acceptable. But not qualified? Think not.

Briahna Gray was the Senior Politics Editor at The Intercept. She is also an opinion columnist with a focus on progressive political messaging, as well as issues relating to identity and culture. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, Current Affairs, and The Week, among others. Her insights regarding the weaponization of identity in the contemporary political sphere can be found in the Fusion documentary “Trumpland: Kill All Normies,” as well as a variety of podcasts and online programs, including NPR, TYT, and The Real News.

Prior to joining The Intercept, she practiced law at a boutique litigation firm in New York City and was contributing editor to Current Affairs Magazine. She is also the co-host of the podcast “SWOTI (Someone’s Wrong on the Internet),” on which she applies a leftist lens to subjects relating to both politics and pop culture. She received a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in 2011, and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College in 2007.

It must have really hit a nerve to have triggered a rant misrepresenting a valid observation as being based in mysogyny and racism.

I take it from your post that if it's an african american who is trashing another african american, it's OK, and it can't be called trashing? And anyone who points out that calls it trashing, is racist and if the person doing the trashing is a woman, a misogynist as well?

She is qualified. Which is my opinion.

As a white woman I wouldn’t dare to speak for a black woman but I think she is allowed her opinion as you are. There are no deities in my life that can’t be praised and not praised. There is no political person who is not able to be challenged. Even someone widely admired. As a black woman, she had her opinion. It may not be mine or yours. But it’s valid if it’s hers.

You struck no chord and if what I said is a rant, you need to take a pill and relax. I said nothing about racism or misogyny. I said I think she is qualified.

And you implied some things that were utterly off base. I never said she was unqualified, but the rant certainly was certainly accusing me of it and 'refuting' that non-existent "opinon." Is that clearer?

Actually, you brought race into the conversation, and used it to scold me. Being disingenuous doesn't change that.

Your post is self-evident.

or gender and not by their age. I think we have got to try to move us toward a nondiscriminatory society that looks at people based on their abilities, based on what they stand for."

Because apparently being happy that there is a racial, age and gender diverse field of qualified people running might indicate 'discrimination' against straight white older men.

Makes total sense then, to list all the women and POC that the candidate has decided to hire this time around in a press release.

Maybe he recently discovered a hitherto hidden population of qualified women and POC. Or maybe Hillary pulled him way to the left concerning the advantage of having a diverse staff.

Or maybe he read this:

Lack of minority staffers threatens to hobble 2020 Democrats

'If you don't have any people of color on your national team ... you're going to be hamstrung,' says one veteran Democratic operative.

35. Sarah Slamen is a good friend and she was one of the people who complained about sexual harrassment

Mar 2019

I have know Sarah for a very long time and was sad to see this thread on DU https://www.democraticunderground.com/1016224223

It’s 2019. There has been some rearranging of chairs on the Titanic that is Bernie 2020 but a lot remains the same. I’m writing this a little before midnight in Texas. Thirteen hours ago, I got an email from a former scheduler on the 2016 campaign asking for my information to arrange travel for a meeting in two days that many of us have known about for awhile. A lot of people like me who reported to the press after being ignored for years had been excluded from the initial planning of this meeting but after some demands from others, I guess we got added to a list. I responded early this morning with my information, curious about what would happen next, curious to see if the boss had become less “busy”.

...

For a future to believe in, learn from the past and present. Senator Sanders and his friends do not have you in mind. Demand more than easy platitudes about economic inequality. Demand a candidate who will treat the women and men who sacrifice months and years of their lives with some respect. Demand a candidate who has time to appoint leaders with substantial grassroots experience and the know-how to plan a wage grid or schedule flights. Senator Sanders is not that candidate.

Sarah used to be on the Ed Show
