(3,678 posts)When I click through to YouTube, I see the following text:
"Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man. The real, "I Have a Dream" speech is amazing. And society is undeniably better thanks to MLK and the civil rights movement. No one should be ever be judged based on their race/ethnicity. The purpose of this video is to show people that media on the web and TV can be edited to really twist facts/reality."
I didn't even have to go looking for that explanation.

I wasn't familiar with the guy, but it took me all of three minutes to learn two things about him:
1. He's the kind of leftist that rubs some Democrats the wrong way (just like Sanders rubs some Democrats the wrong way).
2. His oeuvre includes a number of antiracist pieces.
Maybe you posted in haste, but now you now. The implied guilt-by-association is deceptive.

I learned about him, Matt, and I agree with your last sentence.

(710 posts)I said the video he made was and it is. Maybe he's tone deaf? I don't know. I think it's fair for people to see what kind of hires Bernie has on his campaign as it reflects who he would have on his cabinet.

(9,944 posts)... the videos on MLK and Hillary Clinton. I admire both... Maybe Bernie saw the man made good videos... not someone I'd hire, but I guess it's strictly for the skill in making an effective video.

(710 posts)For posting Bernie's hire? Who candidates hire on their campaign tells us how they would hire to work in the white house. Some people will be OK with it but others not. I personally don't see Bernie trying to expand his base at all. He seems to want to attract Jill Stein supporters and people who hate "the establishment." He doesn't try to go beyond that. Not that I can see.

(833 posts)No, that is not the case.
Look at his equating Hillary and Trump video.
Look at his 'Russia-gate video'.
Oh, he is also a big supporter of Jill S whom we know with Putin by now.
So, I am rightfully offended.
Tell the truth, the timing is also the worst.
I am really upset about that Texas murder by the cop. This lady was playing video game with her nephew.
She had a biology degree and pre-med. She was living with her mother who got very ill just recently.
Now, her neighbor feels awful because he made a non-emergency call for well-fare check.
There is a thin line between pure offensiveness and 'offend to make a point'.
I am very angry and emotionally disturbed.
I know DU since it's very beginning year and I don't post often.
However, I am so angry right now.
All these things going on.
Enough is enough.
Let's stop this for sure.
BTW, I believe Mr. Sanders should fire this disgusting human being right away.

Bernie was the president of the University of Chicago chapter of the "Congress of Racial Equality" at the time. He was arrested protesting for civil rights.

(833 posts)I am glad to know and informed at least.
I could not stand the video after few sentences though.
I feel too old to post these days; however, it really offended me so so badly.
I could not stand it.
This is why I am raising my voice.
You know, just the other day there was a video in which Bill Maher said 'women are too emotional to be a president..' .
However, if you watch entire video, you understand exactly what he really implied.
That was a good example of ' purposely using an offensive expression to make a point..'.
Not this video.
And that was not the end of the story. Other video he made shows his true color.
I am not a big fan of Sanders; however, I don't want to believe he approves all videos he made.
