Btw, last week Gabbard's close friend was going to join Trump's defense team, but that fell apart over lobbying rules. A statute says former lawmakers cannot communicate with or appear before their former colleagues for a year after leaving Congress, and Gowdy's job would have been to appear on news shows to lie for Trump and smear Democrats.

"A source said the president’s legal team needed Gowdy on television making the case now, and not in several months."
