(43,333 posts)a Sanderite clutching at straws.
Also, I call complete bollocks on that old tweet's spin:
The opposite is true, run on a platform that calls for the taking away of people's choice when it comes to healthcare, and THAT will result in defeat after defeat.

(43,333 posts)How many (new candidates, not incumbents) MFA supporters lost in either the primaries or the general, in swing/purple/pink/red districts?
Winning the POTUS is not the same as winning in a safe Blue seat.

(43,333 posts)candidates still running are running on a Rethug talking point platform.
Show me how many Rethugs supported or are currently supporting the public option (which IS what is meant by 'choice' when Pete, or Biden, Klobuchar, etc etc speak about healthcare.) Please do tell me, show these mythical Rethug public option supporters.
Medicare For All WHO WANT IT is choice and certainly NOT a RW talking point.

(8,090 posts)Many of my friends and I are in that 55-64 group just trying to hold on until Medicare age. Many homes are paid for, retirements saved for, etc. but we all keep working because healthcare costs would kill us. I guarantee folks in their 50s and 60s would RUN to the polls if we embraced Medicare at 55.

(63,909 posts)DENY me coverage! I remember those days before Obamacare. I literally wouldn't go have my bp taken for fear of a high reading that would go into my health records.

(8,090 posts)I'm not convinced young people are going to turn out in 2020 no matter how insane, vile, corrupt, etc. Trump is. Too many don't get excited unless there's an Obama-like candidate. In 2016, many AAs in Pennsylvania (a crucial swing state!) didn't turn out because they just weren't that excited about Hillary. I'd be targeting people who are *this* close to retiring and those who might benefit from filling the job vacancies. I know about a half-dozen sane Republicans who would vote for the Dem candidate pushing Medicare at 55 and I imagine there are many, many more throughout the country.

(13,496 posts)I like my health insurance through my husbands company he retired from. It is my husbands secondary insurance. Im not old enough for Medicare yet and I take expensive drugs for rheumatoid arthritis. I already know, no supplemental insurance will pay for it. Medicare Rx wont pay for it either.
