If we let people play us against each other... we will lose 2020

Trust me, I do not agree with the policies of many of the Democratic candidates.. I disagree with their policies.. not the person.. some of the supporters of other candidates, can give me the hives... and I am sure I give them the same hives when they see me post... all that being said... any of our people would be 100 times better than anything a Trumpian would present...

So for the love of mike people.. keep the debate on policies .. We have to win this..

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

insulting candidates will somehow change the minds of of people who have chosen their candidate. You can agree and disagree about policy issues, but it is getting tiresome hearing the constant snide comments about someone's preferred candidate. I have heard it since the beginning of this primary, and it is getting really old. I am afraid the infighting will turn people off of the party completely, which would be devastating. We need to vote Blue. But please can we give the snide comments and inuendos a break.

that we have not even reached the primaries. This is not the primary season, that comes next year. People will have preferences on candidates and their proposed policies, they will disagree about this and than, the debate will be spirited and sometimes it will go over the top. That is the nature of things.

I am afraid the infighting will turn people off of the party completely, which would be devastating.
How do you feel about the attacks and smears on the Democratic party? Oh, you know... things like someone calling the Democratic party "feeble" and "ideologically bankrupt", or saying that the Democratic party is "corrupt" and "no different than the Republicans" or that the Democratic party is "the party of the one percent" or "the party of the elite".

We can't win national elections whenever someone keeps repeating lies about the Democratic party... lies that discourage participation, volunteerism, support of our party's candidates, donating, canvassing, VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS!!!

I have heard it since the beginning of this primary, and it is getting really old.
Yeah, that can be tiresome and tedious... HOWEVER, I think it's fair for me to point out that smears and attacks on the party itself are even MORE harmful than mere bickering between candidates and their supporters.

So, look... here's the bottom line when it comes to things like this: Negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections. It just makes zero sense for ANYONE to do (or defend, or make excuses for) those who try to divide and weaken the Democratic party. What good purpose does it serve?

Are you opposed to those types of "constant snide comments"? If so, will you pledge to speak out against it whenever it happens? Silence equals approval and it will only stop whenever everyone publicly rejects that tactic.

We've got to keep our eyes on the prize. I've liked Corey Booker ever since his speech at the convention in 2008, but he rose quite a bit in my eyes at the debate. His call to end the damn sniping impressed me. I mean, damn. They're up there writing the Rethugs campaign commercials for them.

Still a Biden supporter, but I can definitely see Corey as VP now.

I would be ecstatic to see any of the others in the White House. (Well, I wouldn't be ecstatic to see Marianne Williamson as President, but at least she means well.)

Constructive criticism of our nonpreferred candidates should be fine, but I don't like it when it's more personal than that. United we stand, etc.

Sun Oct 20, 2019, 07:08 PM

There's no easy line to draw between spirited and constructive commentary and divisive attacks. Too often I see the calls for "unity" as a device to stifle debate about contentious issues that should be discussed, even if they're uncomfortable. Some people have low tolerance for the inevitable rough-and-tumble of high stakes politics and other people engage fiercely with equal conviction. I'd rather err on the side of allowing voices to be heard than shushing everyone because it ruffles feathers.
