The former Clinton aide who once called Bernie Sanders movement a hate mission against one woman is now one of the senators biggest supporters.

Hillary Clinton had few defenders more ferocious than Peter Daou in 2016. The former Clinton aide called Bernie Sanders movement a hate mission against one woman. He brawled with, and blocked, Sanders fans on social media with abandon. His devotion to Clinton was such that he co-founded Hillary Men, a website aimed at creating a safe space for her male fans.
Fast-forward to the 2020 primary: Daou has appeared on the Sanders campaigns official podcast, praised the Vermont senator to his nearly 300,000 social media followers and passionately railed against the Democratic establishment.
The radicalization of Daou, a digital political consultant who refers to his change of heart as his metamorphosis, is one of the most unexpected and intriguing subplots of the presidential race.
I was a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter and now I've moved to a position where I think that the Democratic Party establishment needs to change, Daou told POLITICO. Bernie Sanders is the sole candidate advocating for systemic change democratic socialism, really questioning the capitalist system, questioning the entire establishment.

(115,101 posts)Positive Bernie stories get spammed with substance-free negative replies by so many people. Yang is mostly ignored but I've seen the same thing there
I don't think we've seen that directed at many other candidates.

(1,812 posts)Yang and Bernie supporters want systemic change within the Party and the nation as a whole ..The others seek incremental change . The " go along to get along" approach

I dread having certain candidates but I don't seek out positive pieces about them to post petty meaningless bullshit.

(7,261 posts)It would be fine if pushing a moderate candidate could assure us of a win. It would be worth giving up any substantive change to put the fire out before the whole place is ashes.
However, moderates, at least those running this cycle, have a very poor chance of winning. They don't energize enough people to overcome the repuke election fraud/cheating/disenfranchisement/gerrymandering/Russian interference. This dynamic was in full display in 2016. How did that work out for us again? Yes, I know Hillary won the popular vote but she couldn't carry the states that mattered in the EC.
Let's stop falling for the RW bullshit that "we can't afford ...." and "how will we pay for ...". C'mon Dems, just THINK.

(32,691 posts)Heres some eye popping number that support this.
Voters are fairly clear about what they would like from a Democrat. They prefer, by 82% to 11%, one who promises to find common ground over one who promises to fight for a progressive agenda; and they prefer a moderate over a liberal, 75% to 19%.
They support Biden over the president, 38% to 27%, but prefer the president to Warren, 37% to 20%. Sanders is in between, with the president leading him, 34% to 32%. This group voted for Trump by a smaller margin in 2016, 37% to 30%, with the rest casting ballots for minor candidates.

(7,261 posts)What exactly is the secret to finding the "common ground"? There's been a whole litany of talented Dems who haven't been able to crack that code, including President Obama. Please enlighten us.

Big structural change in our system will SAVE capitalism with a balanced nod to socialism. A healthy hybrid, as any great civilization requires.
Bernie is there, but, not the sole advocate for change as Pete describes.
