Republicans seem to have no problem nominating people around 50 years old for SCOTUS so they can serve for 30 years or more - Gorusch is only 52 today, Kavanaugh is now 54 years old. John Roberts was 50 when he was named Chief Justice. Alito was an old one at 56 when he moved to SCOTUS. Clarence Thomas was 43 years old - he's been on the court for 28 years and is only 71. He could be there another 15 years.

Age as a requirement has been openly stated in the past - they want to pick people in certain age ranges so they can stay on the court for 20-30 years or more.

Laurence Tribe is one of the leading constitutional scholar in the nation by many accounts and has been for decades - why did his name never come up as a potential SCOTUS nominee under Obama - because he was too old to nominate for the role by the time Obama was president - his time would have been under Dukakis (if he had beaten Bush Sr) or maybe Bill Clinton's first term.

There would be a clear case of him needing to recuse himself and unlike most dishonorable republican judges, I think he would.

If the history of Roe v. Wade is any indication, republicans will continue to tee up test cases meant to tear down the ACA (and anything built on it), they'll get support from Trump circuit/appeal judges, and probably cert from the SC. At that point, given how close he is to the ACA, the drumbeat for recusal (backed by the media on their "both side's" bullshit) will be deafening.

to be any stronger or more eloquent than their maintenance crew's. That's for the guys standing in front of her. P

I know from her record that she's a solid liberal, but her CA AG record is strongly influenced by administering laws passed by others and current powers and politics. I wonder what kind of justice she would be. Liberal side, of course, but then?

Interesting that Biden put her name out there, though....
