and I strongly suspect that they had all the raw materials at hand, if not already pre-edited, and this was the coup-de-gras.

That's a very good sign in my mind. It shows they are thinking. And on every level.

The footage was in hand, they were ready. The timing was perfect. The images of Joe Biden looked positively presidential.

But the key thing was that they stung Trump hard.

Joe knows how to deal with a bully. Not many do. Trump can be intimidating and look how many rivals he's taken down with his childish antics.

But Trump's shit doesn't work on Biden. Not a bit. It's the other way around. Biden is custom-made to bet Donald Trump.

Smart move. Perfect move. People are thinking!

The ad has part 1 -- Trump failing on the international stage, Part 2 - Biden's voice defining Trump's failings, Part 2 - Biden as someone already an internationally known leader.

Even without that footage, there are plenty of options for video or photos of each of the pieces.

My guess is that they could have forecasted that Trump would be terrible at the NATO meetings - as he has been at all earlier ones. I suspect that they planned to use the coverage of Trump, followed by the ad, followed By John Kerry endorsing him precisely as a person able to repair our relationships on day one.
