I have simply had enough of your Biden bashing.
YOU think it's funny but your jokes suck!
That's twice in four shows I turned you off.
Soon it will be forever! I miss Jon Stewart!

(7,715 posts)Donald J. Trump is his number one target, and Trevor's humor over the last three years (along with Colbert and Kimmel) are what have kept our family sane. If he goes after a D every now and then, that's fine.
I'm not sure what in particular it is that you found offensive. If it's OTT, I'm happy to reconsider.

(38,687 posts)The thing is, 'malarkey' isn't an old time word. If you look at its etymology you'll see it originated in the 1920's. It's a baby in relation to most words we regularly use. But its use is limited to a certain group, Irish Americans, making it unfamiliar to most. If you use the word 'jalopy' for car or 'punk' for young hoodlum or 'reefer' for weed (big in the 70's), you are using terms that originated in the same era. Does calling yourself a punk rocker make you old timey and out of touch? The whole controversy was ridiculous and the above Daily Show segment is a forced, unfunny pile-on.

(11,954 posts)...but rather because it fell out of common use decades ago.
Slang tends to have a short shelf life compared to most of our words. Sometimes a slang word survives and makes it into common speech more permanently. That didn't happen with malarkey.
It's no big deal, but in this case, it did reinforce the narrative that he is really old, which is just the kind of thing comedians will make fun of.
As for the OP, I'm not sure Trevor Noah makes any more fun of Biden than he does of Sanders or other Dem candidates. He's a comedian, he goes for jokes where he finds them.

(38,687 posts)Malarkey might not be common, but it survived and has been in continuous limited use since it originated, mostly within a certain demographic. Saying it doesn't make you dated. No more than someone referring to their grandmother as bubbe.

(14,543 posts)I miss Stewart badly - smartest and toughest guy in the room. Used to watch his show while I at lunch working at home.
Was not impressed by the pick of Noah to replace him given so many other great options that they had, but gave him an honest try and just could not do it ...

(20,626 posts)as well! As far as Jon Stewart, that guy took frequent beatings at DU whenever he skewered Democrats, which he did on a rather regular basis too.
