Whoever wins .PLEASE pick Hakeem Jeffries

For VP!!!! He is so sharp, so succinct, so Democrat!!

So what he's from Brooklyn! He makes so much sense it would translate to Montgomery AL !!

Notes and just seamlessly ticked off the trump attrocity timeline!

He's clever. We need clever.

2. Would a Biden-Jefferies ticket be acceptable? I'm fine with it but others may not.

good for me so far. So looking for an unabashed liberal. You can tell, they feel it from the core of their very soul.

3. I think Hakeem Jeffries is widely expected to succeed Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House in 2023.

He will probably succeed Ben Ray Lujan as assistant to the speaker in 2021.

Actually, Lujan probably would have been the next speaker had he not decided to run for senate this year. Of course, Xavier Becerra probably would have been in line to become speaker had he not accepted an offer to become attorney general of California.

4. :) Jeffries is strongly admired by his peers, and that

kinda says a lot. He's on the track to top leadership in the house, of course.

16. Can't imagine why.

Jeffries' fellow members elected him, but it's Pelosi and company's job to identify promising people from among the newcomers and give them opportunities to show what they are and can do, and so on. And as you'll see below, Jackson Lee had a special problem at that time.

22. Oh, sure. :) With over 200 members, though,

each come with their own ideologies and their own constituent needs and/or demands, openness to good ways of being different seems like an important job requirement to me.

I like clever too, definitely. And speaking ability is certainly desirable. Each time Nancy speaks, I'm reminded that with a Democratic president as head of the party Nancy would probably never have been called on to make an important national address. People can spend their entire careers rising to the enormous power of the speakership focused inward on the House of Representatives without needing more public speaking skill than needed to get reelected in their districts.

23. Yes, completely different skill set. But maybe it

doesn't necessarily have to be? It could just become that people are led, vs. polled and counted? Or perhaps it's just more democratic and right to just let each member do what's best for their district? Everything is so twilight zone with Dipshit in the WH.

13. Nope. House members are elected to leadership positions

by their peers, although of course they are picked out and brought along for advancement by the top leaders.

Jackson Lee was a generation older and had been around much longer, but, if I recall, Jeffries, already picked out for possible top leadership, was helped by his role in creating the blue wave the elections followed close on, and he also had stronger support from the house's black caucus, including Jim Clyburn, than she did.

Not something I knew at the time but her colleagues would have, Jackson Lee was embroiled in an ethical scandal over her earlier handling of a staffer's rape allegation (she fired her). After these elections were over, Jackson Lee stepped down from some of her top positions as a result.

As for diverting him to VP, Jeffries is spoken of as speaker material.

Shouldn't that be the prime consideration? If a woman is...great. Who are you thinking?

24. I don't think it would be hard

to find a highly qualified woman to be the vice president. Women represent over 1/2 the population and yet there has never been a woman president or vice president in this country. Stacy Abrams, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, etc. are just a few possibilities.
