Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forum*NEW* Quinnipiac Poll - Biden 30%, Warren 17%, Sanders 16%, Buttigieg 9%, Bloomberg 7%
Joe Biden also comes out on top when Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic are asked how likely it is that each of the top Democratic candidates would win against Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. For Biden, 80 percent say that it is very or somewhat likely that he would win against Trump in 2020, and 17 percent say not so likely or not likely at all. For both Sanders and Warren, 60 percent say very or somewhat likely. However, Bloomberg and Buttigieg did not fare as well on the electability question, as 50 percent said very or somewhat likely for Bloomberg, and 43 percent said very or somewhat likely for Buttigieg. Breaking down those numbers a little further, Biden receives the highest percentage of Democratic and Democratic leaning voters saying very likely with 35 percent, while Buttigieg has the lowest with only 11 percent.
From December 11 - 15, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,390 self-identified registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. The survey includes 567 Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic with a margin of error of +/- 4.1 percentage points.

(58,785 posts)under real world, GE conditions. People are just looking at them individually without context. Oh, Trump's terrible, all are much better.
Remember, none of our candidates except Biden, and not really even him, have had the Repubs and Russia turn their character assassins loose on them as they will in the GE. THOSE damaged, in some cases very severely damaged, images are what would be running against Trump.
That Biden's so well known to Americans is a really big strength. He's no blank white board the assassins can draw a completely different picture on. The Repubs/Russia already failed rather spectacularly to cast him as a "creepy" sexual predator and racist, even with a wave of help from agents of the illiberal left, because people know he isn't either. But they will always try, try again and again, with computers every day all day.
In contrast, few know anything about Sanders beyond his own rhetoric, and half the nation not even that yet. And the character assassins are slathering at their leashes while they await their chance to "inform" everyone. Journalists reported that in 2016 Judicial Watch alone already had several Sanders "scandals" designed and ready for the final touches before launching, including their first set of endless FOIA filings.
And even if the others aren't as dangerously vulnerable, it'd be more similar for all of them for various reasons. Truth and facts are irrelevant; like the lesson of Hillary, it's all about how many of their constant smears they can get to stick.
