Lets try this again...my moderate republican sources will vote for Biden

A moderate republican friend wants to vote for Biden.
if it's Warren or Sanders she'll vote for Trump.

She said "the only thing that would make me vote for Trump is if Warren or Sanders gets the nomination."

She didn't vote for Commander of b******* the first time.

She thinks moderates will vote for Biden. And she's friends with a lot of conservatives that would do the same.

I should say she's a large republican donor, knows Senators, Congressmen, yada yada type people.
She has that kind of money and runs in those circles.

I'm a middle class/working class Dem, of course. She and I used to live in the same neighborhood and met at the local breakfast joint that's old school when it's busy people sit together.

Just thought I'd drop that here. I personally will vote for any warm body that would beat Trump.

Who do you think can beat T-rump?
I'm not really convinced that the American people have really learned any lessons here and
will vote for him again. Granted, I know he didn't win the majority popular vote (I'm not talking in that context).
I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling about him winning again, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

Post script: Ive been a precinct chair in Texas, attended party conventions, my mother met Chelsea Clinton, I volunteered for the Hillary Clinton campaigns, wrote letters to Hillary of support after she lost the election, have Bill Clinton's autograph, I'm a union member, my great-grandparents benefited from the rural electrification Act, written to Michael Burgess bagging him fruitlessly of course to support the ACA, protested George Bush regarding War, given whatever pittance I can give to thcounty party, I voted straight party Democratic since 2K, and I've been posting on democratic Underground since 2007, but my ex is here and I have to protect my internet persona because as nice as he seems on this form he's a complete douchebag and betrayed me terribly, some of you would remember me if you want to message me, but I have to come here very carefully to avoid interacting with my ex or him realizing it's me posting. Just because I'm not an a****** to people I don't agree with politically doesn't mean I'm a troll, one catches more flies with honey than vinegar, offended at being called The Troll, I believe in being nice the people no matter their politics.

Came to DFW for supporting in the other thread that got locked. I thought long and hard about whether this data to be in general discussion our primary so I reposted this here
I think I would prefer Biden to get the nomination, but I will vote for anyone that can win.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

long time many have waited for this to pass and remain because they believe in (fill in blank). These days that's mostly containing what they see as the evils of the far left. Authors claiming Democrats have moved far left or radical are working for the Republicans to keep these people from bolting.

As for your comment, I often feel that way, but there's a difference between taking an extreme action and being extremist.

Those for instance who became True Believers in the massive lies about Democrats/DNC/Hillary, and voted for Trump -- conservatives because he's their anti-Democratic savior and illiberal-lefters hoping to destroy both evil parties -- have become extremist in their views. Those who were ever "moderate," conservative or liberal, probably not many, are far down the extremism rabbit hole now. For both sides, it's developed the strength of religious faith.

Conversely, there are a lot more previously moderate conservatives who, mostly because they were conservative and were Republicans, the promise of SCOTUS appointments, etc, did the extreme thing of voting for fascistic, criminal, disordered Trump against equality and chicken in every pot Hillary, but who can't justify it to themselves now. And are wondering what to do.

Those are the ones our nation desperately needs to finally break away.

Which means they will vote to re-elect Trump ...If the stock market tanks between now and Election Day , then all bets are off .. There are not many moderate Republicans left to fight for …..Trump is supported by roughly 90% of Republicans in every poll I've seen … Before the 2016 election , Chuck Schumer said that for every working class vote we lose to Trump in Pa; we'll gain 2 moderate Republican voters in the Philly suburbs .. Oops ………….. We need a big turnout amongst Latinos , African-Americans, working class voters , and young people ….We need the 1.4 million voters who supported Jill Stein to return to the Democratic Fold …. We need millions of new voters … In Round 1 of the La. Governors Race this year , Dem candidates received 47% of the vote ...Why ? . The base did not show up ….In the runoff, Gov Bel-Edwards was re-elected with over 51.3% of the vote ...Why ?.. The base showed up ... This isn't rocket science . folks

I personally feel we have three candidates who cannot win. Williamson, Sanders, and Gabbard. I had Yang in this position in my mind not long ago. I am now confident he can beat Trump as well. Specially if the economy starts retracting.

He's been a Republican all his life. He hates Trump and wrote in Marco Rubio in the 2016 election. He told me over Thanksgiving that he would vote for Joe Biden if he gets through the primary, but if anyone else got the nomination, he would just stay home.

The progressive movement will not survive four more years of Trump. We don`t have a revolution despite stupid susan sarandon and her ilk saying so.when we elect Republicans like Trump or Reagan, we move right as a country and the courts will be 6 to 3 if Trump wins. It will take years just to get back to the center. I welcome former Trumper voters, progresives, moderates... anyone to take the orange menace down. Vote blue period.

I wouldn’t trust ANYONE who would support or vote for Trump, and the idea that Democrats should pick a candidate with the goal of somehow luring these consistently deplorable Trump voters is nothing short of mind-numbing.

I'm working on her, keep pointing out how less evil they are than drumpf, etc. But she's a CPA and has worked for big business all her life and absolutely doesn't support $15/hr. or Medicare for All. I should say she's a large republican donor, knows Senators, Congressmen, yada yada type people.
She has that kind of money and runs in those circles.

The Donors will suffer under Sanders and probably Warren. They will lose the power to dictate policy. They will still have it but it will be diminished. And that would be good. It needs to happen.

Also, Most of us do not have that kind of money.

So I don't' think she is talking for moderates so much as the donor class.

IF this is about cross over voters from the GOP, we may want to look at the ones who aren't' in the donor class.

62. Poll: GOP voters drawn to Biden more than other 2020 Democrats
Mon Dec 30, 2019, 11:39 PM
Dec 2019

Republican voters are more drawn to former Vice President Joe Biden than to the rest of the candidates in the crowded Democratic presidential primary field, according to a new nationwide survey.

The Hill-HarrisX poll released Monday shows that 33 percent of GOP respondents named Biden as the Democratic candidate who came the closest to sharing their political views.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg received the second-highest support among Republican voters at 30 percent and 28 percent thought Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) better aligned with their views.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg both garnered 26 percent of respondents who said the candidates closely shared their values.

Biden, the front-runner in most national polls, has long sought to position himself as the most electable challenger to President Trump.

Makes me wonder if some of them are confused about what party they belong to or perhaps they know nothing of Bernie Sanders to say he aligns with them.
Biden also seemed to have more Democrats say he aligned with them, particularly with black voters, which again shows his strenght there.
