Joe Biden is doing terribly among Latino voters — and that could seriously hurt him in two of the most important 2020 primaries

https://www.businessinsider.com/joe-biden-is-doing-terribly-among-latino-voters-who-will-be-key-in-2020-2019-12

Former Vice President Joe Biden is struggling with Latino voters, according to recent Insider polling.

Satisfaction with Biden among Latinos who say they'll vote in their state's Democratic primary is about 40% — 15% below his support among white voters, 14% below his support among Asian voters, and a whopping 26% short of his support among black voters.

The top two candidates running to Biden's left — Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — both perform significantly better among Latinos. While Sanders' approval is at 57%, Warren's approval is at 54%.

Biden's relative lack of support among Latino voters will likely hurt him in two of the most important presidential primaries next year in Texas and California. The two states have the largest numbers of eligible Latino voters in the country, and California moved up its primary to Super Tuesday, which is on March 3.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Business Insider uses SurveyMonkey, one of the worst polling organizations in the country. It's rated D- by 538 and has a history of being very, very wrong.

As highplainsdem noted, other polls show Biden leading with Latinos. Several polls on the latest RCP list show similar leads for Biden. The Economist, for example, shows him nearly 10 points ahead of Sanders with Latinos.

But I also think you need to be careful what conclusions you can draw. For me, it seems the polling organization, despite their low rating but with their knowledge in statistics is way more careful in its wording and what they want to measure and unsurprisingly, media outlets trying to make stories are not that careful.

I tried to check the data but survey monkey is really bad at presenting the numbers if you are looking for a quick overview. They provide Excel sheets and if you have the time you can try to check how they got their data.
I didn't get their exact percentages but I got close to it. If you only look at Hispanics/Latinos, you are left with a sample size of around 120 who plan to vote for either the Dem, Repub or who don't intend to vote at all. From those, 28 said they'd be satisfied and 33 said they'd be unsatisfied should Biden win the nomination. This seems to be the basis for the headline. For comparison to see how fast a switch can happen with these low numbers: Last month, Biden's percentages (26 satisfied to 20 unsatisfied) are close to what Bernie's numbers are now.
We are talking about 50 people who stated a preference and the headline is "Biden is doing terribly among Latinos and that could seriously hurt him".

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
