Joe BidenCongratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!

Thu Jan 30, 2020, 10:46 AM

How sad is it when your own long time co-workers just don't feel the bern?

I mean really, what does it say about a candidate that can't even pull his own co-workers into his court for support of his campaign run??

Bernie has 1x senate endorsement, his co-senator from Vermont. Next President Biden, just going into the primaries already has 5 of Bernie's co-workers in the Senate endorsing him.

How about the House of Representatives? His cohorts in the other chamber? Bernie has 7 that thinks he's worth supporting, Biden has 39.. in both chambers of Congress Biden has at least 5 times as many endorsements as Bernie.

Tell me again, how someone who's spent almost his entire adult life as a Representative, or Senator in our Congress, and can't even get these long-time co-workers to get behind his candidacy is in any way shape or form going to be able to use the Presidency to get such a lofty and high-aiming agenda passed in any form??

His co-workers don't want him, why should we?

Biden 2020!

I sure would like someone to define "the establishment" for me and explain exactly how and why Bernie isn't a member of it. For that matter, I'd also like someone to explain why "the establishment" is so terrible, since it also seems to include a whole bunch of liberal Democrats. Unless, of course, "the establishment" is defined as everyone who isn't Bernie or who doesn't support Bernie.

4. Sanders does not have the support of people in Congress because

he is not a Democrat, really. I has adopted that label only because he had to to run for the Democratic nomination. Historically, however, he has refused to declare himself to be a Democrat, for his own particular reasons. Despite voting most often with the Democratic Caucus, he insists that he is not a Democrat and has maligned the Democratic party on a number of occasions.

So, his fellows in Congress don't support him, because he is not one of their fellow Democrats. It is that simple.

That is something he cannot change. That is something that he will carry with him throughout his campaign. That is why he was not the nominee in 2016, and it's why he will not be the nominee of the Democratic Party in 2020. In his heart, Bernie Sanders has contempt for the Democratic Party.

Bernard Sanders is sui generis.

49. Winning the primary would mean he has the support of Democrats, no?

I wonder at times if people in general have forgotten what 'representative' means. Despite what he calls himself now or in the distant past, a vote for Sanders is a Democratic vote of support (even if there are independents etc. - all candidates are equally qualified for that segment of voters).

To say that the sitting Dem House members are supporting a Dem in greater numbers than an Independent is, well, kinda pointing out the obvious.

Sanders is campaigning for Democratic votes. He seems to be doing quite well

51. Well, he hasn't won any primaries in 2020.

So, we'll wait and see.

It's funny, though. My House Representative is Betty McCollum. She's had 9 terms in office I think, and is one of the most progressive voices in the House of Representatives, but you've probably never heard her name.

This year, she has someone running against her, a guy named David Sandbeck. If you visit his website, he sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders, and he has references to "Our Revolution" on his webpage, although he does not have their endorsement, as far as I know.

He's an extreme longshot, and doesn't really have a chance in MN CD4. But, there he is, claiming that he's the one to elect. He's even running ads on pornhub.com, if you can believe that. I have no idea who he is, but he's running against a genuinely progressive house member, using the same sort of rhetoric that Bernie Sanders uses.

But, Bernie doesn't run video ads on PornHub, as far as I know. So, there's more to becoming an elected representative than slogans and ideas. Much more. How will David Sandbeck do in Minnesota? Very poorly, indeed. How will Bernie do in our first primary since a long time ago? I don't know. We shall see on March 4, 2020.

Bernie sure did well with the caucus in 2016, Sanders won 76 out of 87 counties and ended up with 61.6%!
Do you ever watch Samantha Bee? There was an interview with the guy who started caucuses in '68. I always thought caucuses must be some old relic just dangling on like an appendix. lol

Perhaps he has an evil master plan to transform the party, or perhaps the majority will vote to transform it.
I'm not entirely sure Sanders' 'contempt' is a one man war. Contempt is a pretty strong word to use for 45% of 2016 voters. Maybe temper it to 'frustration'? All good marriages are honest and run into conflict. Some confront and solve problems.
We will see soon enough!

35. I did my homework and debunked your claim.

My homework states that Biden is worth $9 million.

“Biden is finally seeing the benefits of limitless earning. Today Forbes estimates Biden, 76, and his wife Jill are worth $9 million. Their fortune includes two Delaware homes valued at $4 million combined, cash and investments worth another $4 million or so, and a federal pension worth more than $1 million.”

https://www.forbes.com/sites/michelatindera/2019/08/28/joe-bidens-net-worth-how-the-2020-presidential-candidate-built-a-9-million-fortune/#d61568b104dd

More homework also states: Bidens Earned $15 Million After Leaving White House (3:40 p.m.)

Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden and his wife Jill earned more than $15 million during their first two years out of the White House, according to a financial disclosure filed Tuesday.

The bulk of the Bidens’ income came from payments for the memoirs they’ve each written since the former vice president left office in January 2017. The couple’s total income in 2017 was $11 million and nearly $4.6 million in 2018.

Joe Biden’s income in both years included about $400,000 from the University of Pennsylvania for his role as Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor. Jill Biden took in slightly more than $90,000 each year for her professorship at Northern Virginia Community College.

Excluding retirement plans, the Bidens hold between $500,000 and $1.2 million in cash and have S-corpoprations with between $1 million and $5 million, and $500,000 and $1 million.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-07-09/how-middle-class-joe-biden-made-millions-campaign-update

Average Income in the U.S.: Recently, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released their report on the Usual Weekly Earnings of Wage and Salary Workers. Using information from the fourth fiscal quarter of 2018, the BLS claims that in that quarter, the median income for a full-time wage or salary worker on a weekly basis was $900. For a 40-hour work week, this translates to a yearly income of approximately $46,800. This is a 5% increase on the previous year.

When seasonal adjustments (holidays, severe weather, etc.) are taken into account by the BLS, the median weekly earnings are $897, or about $46,644 per year.

That's the comparison to make. Anyone running for President will be a successful person. They won't have gotten to that place without being successful.

42. No. The "average citizen" is exactly the group that Biden will represent and when there is a

disparity of such proportion between average citizen incomes and the incomes of those whose incomes are far beyond what most citizens can even dream of and they hold or strive to hold high office we can't fool ourselves into believing that the rich have our backs. It's that kind of fanciful thinking that got us to where we are in this political quagmire.

Unfortunately, Bernie doesn't seems to have a whole lot of support among Democrats in government. This indicates to me, that he may not be able to get a whole lot done from the White House. Now more than ever, we need unity.

27. There is a bunch of people who want an outsider to the Democratic establishment to lead

I also know co-workers who won't support leaders who want radical changes because they fear they will lose power, salary, or become irrelevant.

62. 100% of Sanders' colleagues refused to support him when

he announced in 2015. Not one among 535 in congress. A tiny handful later supported him because they were running for reelection and, with substantial assistance from Repub-Russia that he didn't reveal or denounce, his support had grown in their districts.

67. Donors wouldn't donate to him, either, forcing him to go grassroots.

How strange that repelling colleagues and never being invited to join them for lunch, where thoughts are exchanged, working relationships built, and agreements are arrived at, can be seen as positive.

But research says antagonistic populists looking for a leader who'll promise to destroy the elites for them bizarrely want a leader from among the elites they hate (!), but they want an outsider elite.

Sanders and Trump and their populist followings are all textbook examples, where they'll no doubt be studied by future generations for at least a couple decades.

A WONDERFUL haul of endorsements of BS's co-workers!

Especially given that 5 of 45 Democratic Party Senators in the current congress either or are have been candidates themselves in this season.

and we look forward to those numbers to keep growing for our 46th President Joe Biden as this campaign season keep on rolling along!

Yes, a WONDERFUL haul indeed, thanks for asking!
