Brown pledges to be most pro-union 2020 candidate if he runs

LAS VEGAS: Democrat Sherrod Brown brought a pro-worker message Saturday to Las Vegas casino workers who are members of what's considered Nevada's most powerful labor union, declaring that if he decides to run for president, he will be "the most pro-union, pro-worker candidate."

Brown, a U.S. senator from Ohio, said he's going to make a decision about 2020 in the next month. He addressed workers in the union hall of the Culinary Union as he kicked off a trip to the early Western caucus state, which is seen as a key test of a candidate's appeal to diverse demographics.

Brown is the first potential or announced 2020 candidate to hold an event this year with the housekeepers, bartenders and others in the heavily Latino union, though other contenders have had private meetings with union leaders in recent months.

The Culinary Union, which represents about 57,000 workers in casino-hotels in Las Vegas and Reno, helped Nevada Democrats deliver the state for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

1. I like him a lot.

And I was lucky to meet and speak with him personally back in 2013.
So intelligent, compassionate and up on the issues we care about.

I was lucky enough to get my photo taken with him:

10. I was invited to a lunch with him because I'd sent him money for a campaign!

It was so good just listening to him talk. SO freakin' intelligent!

There were quite a few of us at this lunch!

I guess we were the Left Coast Supporters.

8. I'm jealous too!

Glad to see I'm in such great company with my 2020 pick.

I hope he actually runs. But the Senate will be tough. (OTOH, the Senate will be tough regardless. If Brown has the coattails I would expect, some options might be opened up in otherwise red states.)

2. I read the headline and thought it had something to do with the confederacy.

That is the country in which we live. I like Brown and he has stuck up for Unions.

5. He seems very authentic. I think he really cares about workers.

Unlike tRump who gives them lip service.

6. "... if he decides to run for president ..."? The clock is ticking.

I hope he runs. He would be a good prez. But the field is building and running, he'll be playing catch-up.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think wherever this ends up in June 2020 - we are going to have stellar candidates and an awesome platform! He will drive it into the platform!
