Iowa: Take a chill pill, everybody

snip

"A good rule of thumb in life is to assume that whatever Trump says, the opposite is true. In this case, this is not a disaster, but rather a weird event that will be forgotten by Super Tuesday, if not by the New Hampshire primary next week.

Arguably, this minor snafu has a bright silver lining, as it may increase pressure to replace the outdated Iowa caucuses with a modern and much fairer primary election."

You had your chance. You had ONE job.

The caucus system has to go.

I think it’s time to let somebody else go first.

7. You cannot blame it on Iowa, the DNC should have taken control of it

An "App"? Are you kidding me? Who thought this was a good idea? I wonder how easily the russians hacked that app.

No, this is not minor, people all over the World are talking about it, and they are not coming with excuses, because there are no excuses to come up with. Simple stupidity and incompetence. Sorry, but I am very upset this happened. We, Democrats, have to show nothing but perfection, any screw up gives the propaganda machine that is the republican party so much ammunition.

Haven't we been screaming for paper backup??? Well, here it is...for the life of me, help me understand..IF a precinct chairperson HAS the vote count TO report by phone, or APP..then WTH...report the damn numbers..fix the app, or find out what happened later...

I don't understand.. WE HAVE THE DAMN NUMBERS...right???

backup, they had a good plan to recover." No, they are going to talk about incompetency, "if they can't run a simple internal election, they showed they cannot run the country", etc. etc. This is a major f%&^-up

6. Its not so much what the con says, it is what most of the media say/write
Tue Feb 4, 2020, 12:25 PM
Feb 2020

This is not a minor snafu, this is a disaster. The first chance Democrats have to show how effective and controlled they are and they let it get out of their hands. Imagine if this level of incompetency continues during the November elections? republicans will be able to walk to the machines, change the votes in front of everyone and done. Democrats should have never allowed this to happen.

9. These opening events set the stage for the rest of the primary.
Tue Feb 4, 2020, 12:31 PM
Feb 2020

Momentum, public perception, and other benefits are reaped by those who win these events. The are historically important and are often critical events that seup success or failure for the rest of the campaign. Every event in this system is critical but whatever events you teplace IA and NH with will assume the same weight.

These early events never seem to be a problem when the right candidate wins them.

11. You can't have a paper backup that verifies a person's vote submitted by an app.
Tue Feb 4, 2020, 12:44 PM
Feb 2020

The only thing you know is that you have a copy of what the app says the vote was. If the app is faulty you have a backup of an app's failure. The app idea was a technically stupid idea.
