He probably thought it was funny. It's not.

1. Old news

Old news, he already apologized for this and the student didn't find it offensive, not a big deal.

3. It is still bizarre

just strange.

I understand it though, because everyone, at some point, says something that sounded OK in their head, but totally different once it was out.

This particular phrase isn't one I've ever heard.

15. Wrong

The student was upset by it, and couldnt understand why he called her that. Stop minimizing Joe's bad decision.

16. OK

I'm not saying it was a good thing to say, but I wouldn't call it a bad decision, he didn't "decide" to insult her ... it was just a "faux pas", looking back on it I suspect he wishes he hadn't said it. The older you get the more prone you are to that sort of linguistic fumble. Its minor stuff.

4. OP is a judgment on one gaffe, which was

really a kind of inside joke that went very foul. He should have explained it better, in the moment. What concerns me is the tone deaf aspect of it. Biden goes off message a bit, always did.

12. Movie allusion, but given all the take-offs on Westerns since the days

of Gaby Hays and John Wayne, this should have easily been seen as a “line,” not delivered with intent to humiliate.

Plant laughed, audience laughed, early news stories reported “Biden said jokingly,” but in typical Biden-bashing fashion, MSM transformed a laugh line into evidence of Joe’s misogyny, bizarre conduct, aggressive hostility on the trail.

Another swift-boating tactic—turn a strength into its opposite. If Joe has AA support, paint him as a racist, if Joe has terrific rapport with audiences, cast him as a shock-jock. If Joe jokes, make his humor into a recondite reference only convalescent home audiences would get.

Of course the plant suffered retroactive trauma.

But, but he has no filter, Gen X,Y, or Z don’t watch Westerns, Biden has no sense of humor because dementia, he’s REALLY slipping etc.

9. Funny how Trump makes comments

far more offensive and the knickers in a wad crowd shrugs their shoulders, but a Democrat makes a goofy comment and they're looking for the blindfold and cigarette.

at other candidates' meetings?

We don't have a good take on how badly the others would handle these things.

Sorry, the outrage already flowed over in the other 20 threads about this
