Democratic Primaries

Bernie Sanders may have emerged with the most votes from the first two contests in the 2020 Democratic primary, but Miamis House Democrats echoed many lawmakers in Washington this week when they said its far too soon to consider the prospect of a democratic socialist as the partys nominee.
Sanders rise has set off alarm bells in the House of Representatives, where Democrats won a majority in 2018 in part by defeating Republicans in districts President Donald Trump won in 2016.
Even asking the question about whether they would support Sanders elicited eye rolls and stone-faced stares from three of Miamis four congressional Democrats.
Hes not going to be the nominee, Rep. Donna Shalala said when asked if she would campaign for Sanders should he win the nomination. Thats hypothetical question and since I dont think hes going to be the nominee I dont have to answer the question.

(4,558 posts)The MOST that are up for grabs in 2020. Sure there's other paths without Florida, but just laughing Florida off is downright stupid.
Florida is certainly a HELL of a lot more important in the GE than either Iowa or NH.

Just in this place alone it would generate all kinds of cash.
Except, urm, I'm not hearing it so much any more.
Maybe Donna ought to bring herself up to speed.

(4,558 posts)Personally, I think we're overestimating our chances at all. Just going over historics, the odds definitely don't favor us.
But no excuse for not doing everything we can. Personally, I'll be canvassing for 5 hours tomorrow, 5 hours Sunday, and 9 hours on Presidents day just to help drive that point.
