Joe BidenCongratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!

Sat Feb 15, 2020, 03:02 PM

Bloomberg's 2015 audio tape on AM Joy this morning.

In a nutshell you have to send police to poor black and brown parts of town
and slam young men from 16 to 25 against the wall if you want to stop crime.

And then they posted the #s from this stop and frisk policy and in only about
1% of the time did they find a gun or make an arrest. And Mike did not stop
this "stop and frisk" it was only after a group sued the city and the real #s
showed the policy didn't work and the police themselves stopped it.

Say good bye Mike.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

2. He should have been saying ...

in a nutshell we should be sending financial and training help to the poor brown and black parts of town. Can't believe he was still spewing crap like slamming young men against the wall in 2015.

3. And at the opposite end of the spectrum..the Bail Reform in NY in its current form is a disaster

Whats going on now in New York with bail reform in the form it passed is going to really hurt our side unless the Dems here fix it really fast..crime is spiking because criminals are being released and committing crimes immediately after getting released...smiling at cameras...mouthing of to judges..people committing multiple crimes per week...the optics are terrible...even Deblasio is calling for the law to be changed asap..prob the wrong time to complain how about safe Bloomberg made the city...also reminder Bloomberg is getting a ton of support from african american officials right now...he admitted it was done too aggressively, which I agree with...meanwhile Bernie is calling for this to me applied nationality..that would be a disaster for the ticket...do not hand Trump his law and order BS mantra that he strives for.

8. "he admitted it was done too aggressively...

which I agree with"

So what's the correct level of aggression to stop black and brown people on the streets indiscriminately?

9. There is no correct level..

Its just like the Crime Bill in 1994 which African American communities supported as well..over time it was abused unfortunately, especially on state level when Rs took over those states....Stop and Frisk had been done since the early 80s, it just wasn't called that...instead of asking me, ask the African American officials etc who are throwing support his way enthusiastically, they will be better able to answer that question than I would. All I know is that living in NYC was safe under Bloomberg, I didnt agree with everything he did but overall he was a great mayor...and continued through Deblasio up until they passed this terrible bail reform law.

10. "like the Crime Bill in 1994 which African American communities supported"

I always love this talking point for a couple reasons:
1. It conflates "the African American community"--a strange construct, especially insofar as we don't talk about "the white community"--is homogeneous. In fact, black folks have heterogeneous opinions about issues of policing and lots of other things.
2. The bill would have passed without a single vote from a single African American legislator....because there weren't, and aren't yet, enough of them in congress.

Also, I don't need to ask the African American legislators who are supporting Bloomberg why they're supporting them because as far as I know, none of them have said that he just did it too aggressively. They have said it was bad policy and unconstitutional and that he's apologized for it. NOT that he did it too aggressively.
