But, bottom line, Warren is right. We shouldn’t even be at this point in our country.

It might make us feel good, but it doesn't mean he can win the Presidency. He can insult Dotard all day, but those who support him are in a cult and won't be swayed.

...to be targeted by police for harassment is extremely sad.

"You can just take the description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16-25. That's true in New York, that's true in virtually every city"

"I think we disproportionately stop whites too much, and minorities too little"

^^^ This is seriously what you are defending? This is what they are turning a blind eye too and thats okay with you? Really?

These aren't comments from decades ago. These aren't comments taken out of context. And these weren't just comments, this was actual policy that ruined lives.

Bloomberg. Yet, you’d tell her she’s a “sell out.” Lots of “Moms Against Guns” feel like McBath. Get the gunz out of communities where kids are getting killed walking home from schools.

And, Christ, a former Black Panther is supporting Bloomberg. I listened to Reps Rush and Meeks tonight, they were quite compelling.

Have not heard Washington, DC Mayor Browser’s reason for endorsing Bloomberg today, but I bet it’s equally compelling.

Trump has "black friends" too. That doesn't make it right. Their covering for Bloomberg does not excuse the atrocious policies and comments. You can throw all the names around you want. None of that will EVER change what Bloomberg is guilty of having done. None of it.

And, although I was pretty much committed to Biden until he floundered, it’s not like he didn’t do some things like opposing busing to get minority kids to better funded schools.

At least Bloomberg’s actions saved some lives and some damn good minority Democrats feel Bloomberg is the best candidate to get the Racist-in-Chief out of office. I don’t vote until late March, but I’m opened to listening to such support before casting a ballot.

20. You appear to support Warren's gun control proposals.

"Warren would create a federal licensing system for the purchase of any type of gun or ammunition."

"Warren, who is in the top tier of Democratic presidential candidates, wrote in the plan that she intends to do the following using executive action:

Require background checks for gun purchasers who buy at gun shows or online
Apply the 18-and-up age restriction on gun purchases to more sales
Close the so-called “boyfriend loophole” – current law bars abusive spouses from obtaining weapons, but does not apply to all abusive dating partners
Direct the attorney general to prosecute unlawful gun trafficking and investigate the National Rifle Association for alleged corruption
Direct the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to revoke the licenses of gun dealers that are found to routinely violate the rules
She wrote she would push for the following legislative steps:

Create a federal licensing system for the purchase of any type of gun or ammunition
Boost the excise tax on handguns to 30% from 10% and on ammunition to 50% from 11%
Establish a one-week waiting period for all gun purchases
Increase the minimum age to 21 for all gun sales
Prohibit anyone convicted of a hate crime from owning a gun"

37. I'll say it again, President warren sounds fantastic to me!

I'd happily pick Warren over Bloomberg in the primary for a number of reasons. Here is a couple just off the top of my head:

Sen. Warren isn't a NYC billionaire with autocratic tendencies.

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of intensive support for stop-and-frisk and other assault on civil liberties(almost entirely POC).

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of support for redlining.

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of opposing medicare, medicaid, social security, or medicaid for all.

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of rampant sexual harassment allegations.

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of being perceived of contemptuous of her constituency.

Sen. Warren doesn't have a history of being opposed to taxation on the rich.

Sen. Warren is no Mike Bloomberg.

So yeah, President Warren sounds fantastic to me the more I think about it.

But it's just not realistic. It's just not going to happen. Sooner or later every candidate except for one is going to drop out. For Liz, bless her heart, it's going to be sooner. Possibly even for my man Joe. Have to have a plan B in place. My plan B is Mr. Bloomberg because running against trump in the fall requires a lot of media savvy, a lot of money, and first rate staff to put it all together.
Mike isn't perfect by any means, but checks off all those boxes.

44. An article by "crank, liberal" John McWhorter. A black.

"We are faced, as so often of late, with white social-media commentators being woker on race than the black people they mean to support. Black America is coming around to Bloomberg in poll after poll, apparently unaware of the new wisdom that one unwise policy on race must render a man eternally dismissible even after multiple apologies.

The truly enlightened response to any pious insistences that Bloomberg be sent home over stop-and-frisk is to ask: Even if it means letting Trump have a second term? People who say yes will reveal themselves as fringe extremists, while the harrumphing of those less forthright will illuminate the difference between striking a pose for posterity and working for the better in an imperfect world."

65. And yet you'll vote for Bloomberg this fall if he is the nominee.

To post here, you agreed to abide by the TOS which in part says

"but we do expect members to be generally progressive and to support Democrats at election time -"

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=termsofservice

While you now say Bloomberg's past is indefensible, it's not so indefensible to prevent you from supporting him at election time.

67. Stop trying to bait me with that trollish bullshit.

You know good and well no one can say they won't without getting banned so all you're doing is trolling by saying that. I won't dignify that bullshit with a response of any kind from here on out.

The only other thing I'll add is that real Democrats better make sure we won't nominate a man who is basically Trump minus the mental illness and a veneer of politeness. The super-delegates existed for purposes of keeping such a person from being nominated and I hope they shut Bloomberg down if it comes to that.

And people agreeing to the TOS would be rightfully forgiven if they had misgivings about her winning the Democratic nomination.

Now that is an extreme example, but for some Bloomberg might be quite different than the person signed up for.

Maybe a reason Bloomberg is rising is that he is addressing the quite possibly number 1 goal we have and that is to defeat Trump.

One the one hand, she's asking for $$$. On the other hand, she's ripping someone for having the money that she is trying to get. I really like her policies and am rooting for her. But she needs to stop tearing down other democratic contenders and focus on Trump. Her focus is on all the wrong place. There's plenty of Leftist bloggers and influencers that will be more than willing to go after Bloomberg.

48. Rep. Waters sees little diff betwixt a person using their own funds and one asking for donations

"Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters sees little difference in Bloomberg using his fortune and others tapping donors

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters defended Mike Bloomberg’s right to self-finance his presidential campaign Thursday on CNBC, suggesting the billionaire’s own money was not much different from money raised by other candidates.

“We live in a democracy, unless it’s undermined by this president who doesn’t know what he’s doing,” Waters said on “The Exchange.” “The democracy, and the way it gives everybody an opportunity, is what we basically believe in."
