Essence Mag: Elizabeth Warren tops their "racial scorecard."

https://www.essence.com/news/politics/elizabeth-warren-2020-racial-justice-presidential-candidate-scorecard/

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) is known for more than just having a well-thought-out plan for everything; she’s also gained a reputation for meeting Black women at their own tables, allowing them to be her teachers, and listening and evolving as need be.

It makes sense then that Warren scored an A- on the 2020 Racial Justice Presidential Candidate Scorecard, the highest of any candidate in the race. Former Vice President Joe Biden, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), Andrew Yang, are all at the bottom with President Donald Trump with Fs.

The Center for Urban and Racial Equity created the scorecard to center racial justice and to ensure that the concerns of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities are not sidelined. The Racial Justice Presidential Candidate Scorecard “summarizes the presidential candidates’ policy proposals through a racial equity lens across key areas including criminal justice reform, education, health care, voting rights, reparations, environmental justice, immigration, indigenous rights, and policies to close the racial wealth gap,” the center’s website says.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Actually, it is better. But not by much, especially for a candidate who’s supposedly the odds on choice of the African American community.

I’ve never understood why the guy who went after Anita Hill the way he did would have the support of African Americans.

It’s encouraging (but not surprising) to see that my candidate topped all contenders in this evaluation.

I said that criminal injustice is important, but it is not the only thing important to black folks. I am concerned in this climate that at any given time one of my family members could be pulled over and it go south and then they get caught up in the criminal justice system.I am concerned about all the injustice that happens to black and brown folks. However, I have a lot of other concerns that I think only Sen Warren has adequately addressed. Economic injustice, bias and discrimination in healthcare, not just job creation for minorities but giving them access to be business owners. I can go on, but she hits it out of the park on so many issues.

The best speech she gave this whole campaign IMO was themed around black women workers at Clark University in Atlanta, and the only attention it got was for being disrupted by RW-funded charter school activists. It was the best speech on race (and not just because it was one of the only ones) given by any candidate this whole cycle. Then it was back to the endless IA/NH events.

The focus on those two overwhelmingly white states really hurt Warren (in addition to a few others who were forced to drop out). Those voters rewarded candidates who play it safe on issue after issue at her expense. It would have been a different story in more diverse states.

For example, Booker got a 9/10 on the reparations score because he introduced the senate bill. The survey says that Amy was a co sponsor of the same bill, yet she gets a 7, as does Warren and Sanders, and anyone who merely stated that they would sign the bill.

Yet Gabbard got an 8. I fail to see how Gabbard is better on reparations then the 3 senators.

Some of the other scores are obviously just as subjective.

But congrats to Warren for the highest score.
