Democratic Primaries

Hes self funded which means hell stay in the race until HE chooses not to. His constant Ads are seen by millions of more people than those who saw, or even care, about the debates.

(86 posts)to let a bunch of people get on stage and kick his ass if he really want to.
Let's be real though. All of Bloombergs support comes from the ads he's running, which are obviously made to put him in the best light. He's also had no real vetting by the media. Now, in his introduction to most people, he was awful and the media is loving to kick him right now too.
Right now he's at about 15% in polls and Biden is at 16%. Given that most of Bloombergs support comes from Biden, I expect that most of that support is going to swing back to Biden.

(571 posts)He entered the race to stop Sanders (a worthy goal), but is siphoning off votes from other candidates that actually would've been able to stop Sanders if Bloomberg wasn't there.
Bloomberg should CHOOSE to drop out, and put his money behind the strongest moderate.

(8,144 posts)Steyer and Bloomberg are siphoning votes from a candidate far superior to either in qualifications,
experience, and widespread appeal. It is what it is, but no need for the Trumpian insult. Joe has had plenty of that.

(11,982 posts)I know, those states don't play to his strengths, and I'm not saying he should have expected to come in first... but he clearly expected to do better than he did. YES, He was ahead for a long time, but the more people heard from him and everyone else, the less they preferred him.
I thought last night may have been his best debate, though.

(8,144 posts)SC polls as he is promising to open up his money bags to that state while flooding it with ads. The
problem here is that Steyer hasnt a prayer of winning the nomination, much less the GE.

(7,493 posts)What we have seen with his statements, policies, NDAs, funding of repubs, etc. should be enough to disqualify him as a terrible candidate to take on drumpf. His showing tonight only confirmed that. His staying in the race while qualified true POC Democrats like Harris and Castro had to drop out because of funding would be a disaster for the party.
Money won't buy a general election in which the Democrats need women to turn out like they did in 2018. They won't do that for Bloomberg and we will lose.

(17,519 posts)Will it be a sad day if he gets the nomination and then beats Trump? He is not my favorite either, but he is the only one who stands a chance of winning. (however slim that may be)
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(7,493 posts)He's not leading in the polls, he has a ton of baggage, most notably due to his issues with women. We win in 2020 the same way we won in 2018: with women leading the way. If last night's debate didn't show you how badly Bloomberg deals with that issue, then I see why you think he has the best chance of winning.

(32,017 posts)I now assume that he will be our nominee. He survived the debate. That's all he needed to do. His carpet-bombing saturation-level advertisements will do the rest. I can only hope that he will choose Pete Buttigieg as a running-mate.

(32,017 posts)And people like the fact that he's aggressively taking the fight directly to the Great Pumpkin. Only a small percentage of the public watched the debate tonight. Bloomberg's relative inexperience on the debate stage showed, but he wasn't a complete disaster. His carpet-bombing saturation-level advertisements will do the rest, I think.
I may be wrong, but my gut tells me that he has this thing in the bag at this stage.

I was very disappointed.
He's a smart man. Too smart to have gone into the debate without better answers to the obvious questions. He had to know they were coming and he had to know the answers had to be compelling. They weren't.
I think Liz did well in that exchange, but I didn't think it was anything like a slam dunk wipe out that everyone here was saying.
And that said, each of the candidates has had a bad debate. Some have had more than one.
I'm still open to his candidacy, and I agree. He's certainly not finished. But he's going to have to get much better real soon at personal presentation if he's going to be able to be the guy who overcomes his own baggage, perceived and real, to lead the charge against Filthy Donnie.
But I'm back to undecided and watching the numbers Laura Pour Me A Drink put out yesterday on candidates with the largest margin against Filthy Donnie in swing states. So far that's Joe. Though he has been running a lackluster campaign and he's the king of the unforced error, this number is a compelling consideration.

Not only did that not happen, it only made things worse in that respect. In that way, it was a very bad night for the party.

(13,058 posts)million people saw last night's debate. But that doesn't change the substance of the attacks that the other candidates made against him last night. And you better believe that the Trump campaign was taking notes last night. If Mike does make it to the general election you better believe that what he faced last night will be a walk in the park compared to what Trump will throw at him. So I cannot support him because I regard him as a sure loser in November.
