Related: About this forumSanders proposals wouldn't pass a Democrat led Congress
Even if Sanders became President, and he won't, the overwhelming majority of his plans couldn't even pass through a Democrat led Congress. He, and he wouldn't, would have to make serious compromise.

"Sure would be great if, no matter who, we would stop with the paranoia and simply vote for who we like and support each other. We are all Dems so remember that devisivness within our ranks will lose the election to Trump as quickly as you can shout "Welcome back DT". If you truly care about the future of this country then act like it. Dems are not our enemy, that's DT, for goodness sake."

(459 posts)Republicans are not doing this for our benefit. Once Sanders is our nominee, then all the oppo research will come out and hit him, 24/7.
The useful-idiot progressive left is being led into a trap like pigs to slaughter.

"Its impractical ... Theres not a chance in hell it would pass," he told ABC News Political Director Rick Klein, instead advocating for strengthening the Affordable Care Act -- or Obamacare -- and looking to pass a public option.
There are not enough Democratic votes to get this concept passed in the real world

(43,123 posts)They said President Carter had few contacts on Capitol Hill and couldn't pass his programs either. There are few if any representatives who see the way to reelection as passing a socialist agenda, no matter how broadly popular, because the economic system runs on incentive, and you can't grow good jobs and the economy without incentives for people who do the work.

(10,721 posts)...would change present realities. Millions are starving for profound change. And when negotiating, one shouldn't start where one hopes to end up.
Sanders has his flaws to be sure, but if he wins and lays the groundwork for the likes of AOC to become president, we may just have a future. We need major fundamental change and soon. We're in grave danger as a society and as a species. We need leadership that will inspire an army of Greta Thunbergs.
