Let's say Bernie wins the nomination as expected

Then loses handily to Trump in the general election.

What changes if any do you see the DNC making?

And for the Bernie supporters, if this were to occur would you be in favor of switching back to an Obama-style incremental approach to change, or would you still be in favor of radical transformative change to some of the key areas of debate in America (healthcare, climate change, worker’s rights, wealth gap, etc)?

and loses the GE and we don’t flip the Senate, I don’t see that the DNC can do anything that will make a difference. We will lose the courts for decades...the DOJ will continue to deteriorate, Russia will have a stronger foothold, GOP corruption will know no bounds and our climate will continue to warm. I don’t see any path forward for the DNC is we don’t win this thing. I wish I did.

There needs to be an international focus on Asia, primarily China and India. If we can’t pressure them into changing their emissions and pollution then all the great work the US and Europe have done so far is for naught.

Those countries aren’t going to change overnight, it’s just not possible, but who’s to say we can’t get it fixed over an incremental 20-30 year span?

China is making incredible strides very quickly. Yes, there's still a long way to go, but make no mistake that they are capitalizing on the huge new climate economy. For instance, China was already outpacing the US in solar wattage in 2017, with India and Pakistan in the top 10.

Strict rules to prevent interlopers and abuse of the system from non party members (regardless of how they "caucus'') ... we should ONLY nominate Democrats.

We should eliminate caucuses.

We should eliminate open primaries and "same-day" party switching.

Or... just eliminate primaries completely and go back to letting the party choose the nominee in "smoke filled rooms".

Well, I don't know about that. Lacking their ability to implement the other ones, we may as well go back to back-room party-selected candidates... like the good-old-days (as they say).

Otherwise... why bother having a party at all, if ANYONE can be a candidate and if ANYONE (member or not) can fuck around with party business.

I think our party's lax and open rules/standards/regulations only serve to dilute our strength and bonds as an actual party, and it makes it SO EASY for the GOP and Russia to manipulate and interfere. We need stricter controls.

Sun Feb 23, 2020, 07:58 PM
Feb 2020

1. If Bernie is nominated and offers a “revolution” in true solidarity, yet loses to Trump, the dystopia is pretty much at hand, and we’ll continue to the collapse.

2. If Bernie is nominated and wins, well we can begin the business of finding out about this revolution and trying out the changes he’s been espousing. Maybe we can avoid the collapse, maybe not.

3. If Bernie is not nominated and Trump beats a Democrat, see #1.

4. If Bernie is not nominated and a Democrat wins, we’ll see the attempt to claw back to Normalcy, or whatever we’ve been doing for the past few decades. The collapse will be delayed, but probably not avoided.

No politician wants to preside over the collapse. So it’s understandable that no politician will tell the whole truth. Some tell more than others, though.

If Democrats are successful in taking back the WH, they will also need a 60% majority in the Senate and must retain the House in order to get anything done. It will take years to reassemble our former government with all of intricacies. It will take many years to accomplish anything else.

The party (both parties, actually) needs to take back control of its own agenda and processes.

I think it started changing in response to successful third-party challenges from the likes of Perot and Anderson back in the day. Everyone wanted those independents. What we got in the end was Trump and now possibly Sanders ... neither one an example of their party’s agenda. Both dealing in the politics of grievance, both railing against the party establishments, both lone-wolf actors.

I think you should be a registered Democrat to have a say in the nominee of your party. And I dare say, you should have to declare that registration at least a month before Election Day.
