If Bernie wins looks like he'll walk into a world ravaged by Coronavirus

At his age, is he ready to take on this challenge?

1. I'm not a Bernie fan this go around, but I don't see how his age

would limit his effectiveness in addressing Coronavirus.

3. You realize

That as a heart attack survivor on his late 70's he's a prime at risk group for the virus?

2. Isn't Bloomberg and Biden about the same age with Warren close behind?

And does Buttigieg have the necessary experience having only run South Bend?

4. Overthinking everything makes one susceptible to depression and anxiety

For any set of scenarios conjured up by an overthinker, half or more can be tossed straightaway as useless mental detritus.

5. I see no reason he would be any less equipped to deal with it

than any other Democratic candidate.

6. Whoever is elected will have a serious challenge ahead of them.

But at Bernie's age and with his heart disease, if he gets it (and some epidemiologists are predicting just about everybody will get it eventually) he could be in real trouble.

Trump is probably in equally bad shape or worse, though, and he goes to all those rallies where there are a lot of people, so you never know what might happen. Not that I would be wishing a disease on him, of course. Nuh-uh, not me.

7. This thread is an extrapolation of what so far is a short term trend 11 months ahead

Utterly insane.

Yes new cases are growing, but they are growing more slowly than before, and death rates are slightly improved. A few more weeks will tell a lot. Pandemics follow a predictable pattern, this one will play out.

9. Maybe not.

With its potent mix of characteristics, this virus is unlike most that capture popular attention: It is deadly, but not too deadly. It makes people sick, but not in predictable, uniquely identifiable ways. Last week, 14 Americans tested positive on a cruise ship in Japan despite feeling fine—the new virus may be most dangerous because, it seems, it may sometimes cause no symptoms at all...

The Harvard epidemiology professor Marc Lipsitch is exacting in his diction, even for an epidemiologist. Twice in our conversation he started to say something, then paused and said, “Actually, let me start again.” So it’s striking when one of the points he wanted to get exactly right was this: “I think the likely outcome is that it will ultimately not be containable.”

The emerging consensus among epidemiologists is that the most likely outcome of this outbreak is a new seasonal disease—a fifth “endemic” coronavirus. With the other four, people are not known to develop long-lasting immunity. If this one follows suit, and if the disease continues to be as severe as it is now, “cold and flu season” could become “cold and flu and COVID-19 season.”

10. I seriously hope this thread is a joke.

Yes. Yes he will be. Liz would be best prepared, but Bernie would be as prepared as any other candidate with good experience (sorry-not-sorry Pete and Mike).

12. Thankfully non of the other candidates would have to walk into a world

ravaged by Coronavirus should they become the nominee, apparently only Bernies Sanders would have to do so, based upon your post.
