Maybe if he had asked his disciples to stop attacking Buttigieg with homophobic slurs and other bullshit insults even *once* during this course of this campaign, they might be more inclined to give him a look. Oh, and I'm sure Buttigieg's supporters are thrilled that you stole his thunder from his historic Iowa win by demanding additional unnecessary reporting that muddled up the results, your refusal to concede to him there even weeks after the caucuses took place, and your lies on social media about being the first candidate ever to win the first three states (spoiler alert: there have been other candidates that have done that and you didn't win Iowa).

What goes around, comes around -- and now you get to reap all that your supporters have sowed in your name.

costs the most delegates to Bernie since he is the frontrunner in that state. Buttigieg withdrawing from the race makes Biden, Bloomberg, and Warren more likely to be viable. That isn't good news for Bernie's campaign since that could amount to a 150 -200 delegate loss. The key to Bernie winning the nomination on the first ballot is to sweep the largest, most liberal states which just became a bit more difficult.

I don't recall what the tweet was about, but when I saw his profile which stated he was a (dis)content creator I immediately blew him off as another reactionary hothead.

One of the reasons that I never participated on Twitter is because I didn't want to put myself into a position where people are digging up dirt about me and posting about me online. Mr. Finkelstein decided to make himself a public figure so he is reaping both the rewards and the misery that goes with it.

I've made my share of mistakes in my past, but I'm hopeful that I will never need the services of an attorney again in my lifetime. However, if I did and knowing this person's background I would be reluctant to hire him as my attorney.

Perhaps it's because I know some personally. A friend of mine had from a successful business career when he was prescribed an opioid for an injury, and ended up addicted, and then on heroin. 68. I don't think that recovering addicts should be shamed about their past either,
Sun Mar 1, 2020, 11:53 PM
Mar 2020

but for all practical purposes careers are ruined when they are caught committing felonies (whether or not they are convicted). They lose the opportunity to hold any jobs with fiduciary responsibilities, they lose security clearances, and their lives are generally in so much financial turmoil that employers are going to be reluctant to hire them. The fact that they are "recovering" addicts means that they will always be susceptible to relapse and may even resort to other crimes to finance their addiction.

I've been around addicts and I was forced into rehab myself because I'm considered to be a marijuana addict. It isn't fair that people are shamed for their past actions, but in Mr. Finkelstein's case there not only are the public records of his legal issues but newspaper articles about it too. He decided to advertise his political views on Twitter so he has chosen to also be a target of whatever backlash may develop. I don't have a lot of sympathy for him. If he didn't want his name smeared, then he should have kept his opinions to himself or at least not broadcast them on social media.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Buttigieg for damn near a year straight, homophobia included.

Sanders Supporter: Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg is "a bloodless asexual."

https://www.democraticunderground.org/1287608116

The people in the crowd were angry, and “Chapo Trap House” wanted them to stay that way. The five hosts of the popular socialist podcast wanted everyone to know they had all been lied to. About everything.

The media they consumed was fake news aimed to distract them from the only war worth fighting: the class war. Politesse, civility, even pleasure — those were tools of the neoliberal oppressor. The right answer is rage.

“That joy,” the Chapo co-host Will Menaker said to the crowd gathered in Iowa City on the eve of the Iowa caucus. “That’s good but it’s not as good a motivator when you’re really going to war as spite.”

“Let the hate feed you,” the co-host Amber A’Lee Frost added as the audience roared.

And it does. Especially toward other Democrats.

Supporters of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. are “gelatinous 100-year-olds.”

Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg is “a bloodless asexual.”

“The gayest thing about him is he descends from an ethnic group that’s like a little toy dog,” Ms. A’Lee Frost said.

'Racist' TYT reporter continues smear campaign against Buttigieg

(A must read, this backs up what I have been saying since spring 2019. The whole Sirota/JD/TYT/DSA/BoBer crowd has been camping down in South Bend for 8 months or so, trying to dig up dirt and smear Pete.)

October 25, 2019

https://orderofthecoif.wordpress.com/2019/10/25/racist-tyt-reporter-continues-smear-campaign-against-buttigieg/

The Young Turks today published the latest in a series of articles about Pete Buttigieg that they’ve characterised as “investigative reporting”. As will be shown in this article, these articles by Jonathan Larsen constitute nothing less than a sustained smear campaign that breaks all the basic rules of good, objective journalism. Mr Larsen consistently relies upon anonymous sources with suspect motivations, and often misleads his readers about the nature of documents on which he purports to rely.

The articles have also consistently pressed the most slanted and unfavourable interpretation against Mr Buttigieg, and relied substantially on innuendo and conspiracy theory dressed up as searching questions. The articles have sought to create an impression that Mr Buttigieg is engaging in racist policies or corrupt conduct, while failing to establish corroborated facts that actually support such an interpretation. This article will also set out Mr Larsen has questions to answer about his own conduct, which has been alleged in open court to include racist bullying, harassment and racial discrimination. Cenk Uygur should explain why a reporter credibly accused of racist conduct is allowed to continue on his staff while the issue remains unresolved.

Secret Tapes

The matter begins in January 2012 when Mr Buttigieg commenced his first term as Mayor of South Bend. Upon taking up a mayoralty, an Indiana mayor will determine who their chief of police shall be. The incumbent is not guaranteed to be appointed to continue under the new mayor. The incumbent chief in South Bend was Chief Darryl Boykins, an African-American police officer who enjoyed the confidence and respect of the community. Mr Buttigieg interviewed three candidates from the South Bend Police Department; Chief Boykins and division chiefs Steve Richmond and Tim Corbett. Mayor Buttigieg decided, based on his performance as chief and his good relations with the community, to reappoint Chief Boykins.

It has been alleged that six days after Mayor Buttigieg took office, on 6th January, 2012, Chief Boykins called division chief Richmond into his office and, “berated him for having been disloyal to him by seeking his job and for being a ‘backstabber'”. Chief Boykins also told Richmond that he had been wiretapping his and other senior officers phone lines, and that “he would fire anyone he determined to be disloyal”. It is also said that on 17th January, Richmond spoke to Karen DePaepe, SBPD Director of Communications, and asked her whether it was true that his line had been tapped. DePaepe responded that the chief requested a line tap “the day he promoted you to division chief”.

Richmond and other officers whose phone lines it transpired had been tapped by DePaepe at the request of the chief since 2010, went to the US Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, a Democrat Mr David Capp (who was incidentally later fired by Donald Trump), to complain about the taps which they interpreted to be illegal breaches of their constitutional 4th amendment rights. The FBI commenced an investigation of Chief Boykins, and Mayor Buttigieg was informed. Prior to this the mayor was unaware of the existence of the tapes. The US Attorney informed the mayor that if Chief Boykins was quietly dispensed with as head of the SBPD, they would agree not to press charges.

While Pete wasn't my first choice, I do like him and respect him. I do see the possibility that in another election season he might be at the top of my list. Hopefully he can build up his political resume during the meantime so that the lack of experience argument will wane.

I do have a passionate side, but I rarely show it. Tonight I couldn't help myself.

I am sure that whatever Pete does now, he will continue to be political. He and Biden are talking and maybe Pete will land a job in Biden's administration.

That will certainly put an end to the talk of his "lack of experience."

I've seen more than one person say they were torn between Pete and Bernie. I even read about one person this morning who's torn between Bernie and Bloomberg, which seemed a little odd. Buttigieg was not that centrist, and he probably had support from some younger people who were excited about the prospect of a president who's from our generation, who may be open to supporting Bernie now.
