Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAs an old guy raised in the south, I can't decide if I'm amused or just pleased.
It turns out that a lot of white southerners (like me) were waiting to see how African Americans in South Carolina voted to decide for whom they would vote.
We were waiting to be told by AAs how to vote. The arc of the moral universe sometimes takes interesting bends.

AA sentiment doesn't necessarily dictate my choice, but it strongly influences it.

(31,232 posts)all the money spent by other candidates, I'm still surprised at how well he performed here. It worried me that I was seeing nonstop ads for some of the other candidates, and none for Joe. But, over the weekend, the ads kicked in. It was a brilliant strategy. After a while, I was so sick of Steyer & Bloomberg ads that I vowed I would never vote for either of them, unless something awful happened to Joe.

(16,159 posts)Endorsements mean something between office-holders and people with whom they've built trust. Curiously, the politics of trust is the way to get big money out of it.

(16,159 posts)As one of those trivialized white "moms", I pay very careful attention to black voters, as they are astute and tend to WIN ELECTIONS for Democrats.
