Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumFundraising failures could torpedo Warren presidential campaign
The Massachusetts senators relatively paltry $6 million haul for the first quarter of 2019 fell $1 million short of the new Democratic sensation, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is not planning to announce his campaign until this weekend.
Warren raised three times less money than her main progressive rival, Vermonts Bernie Sanders, who raised $18 million in just six weeks of campaigning. Sen. Kamala Harris, who has been running for just two months, outraised Warren by $6 million.

(94,386 posts)I've been to several high dollar fundraisers for her Senate races, and nobody suggested she was being "bought". She could have raised good money from progressive upper income Democrats.

(612 posts)Although she's not my first choice, I have great respect for her insights into our economic system, and some of her solutions. I believe it's ill-advised to dismiss her this early in the primary process. It appears to me that she was originally more focused on her message than on fund raising, but she has plenty of time to catch up financially. In my perception, we need to remain open to her message, and to give her the support she deserves. -- Just one old guy's opinion.
