to other purposes. It'd be interesting to know what all legal and other practical changes might be involved.

As for what this actually means, it's so far looking like deja vu again.

The only thing he "withdrew" in 2016 was various loudly announced lawsuits claiming rigged primary elections (before he had to show he had cases to be allowed to proceed).

Lacking his formal withdrawal, the media speculated he was "dropping out" at different points that summer, but unclear, and he delayed long after the nominating convention before finally sending a signal that everyone decided to take as his concession: his endorsement of our candidate.

That still wasn't actually the end as the endorsement didn't exactly signal the pivot to solid support that it usually does. What he and his camp did instead is, of course, also history.

We'll just have to see if he's sincere this time. I'm sure many of the most hostile would not follow him to support of Biden and the Democratic Party; the outrage against him at even a pretend endorsement of HRC was extreme, so a sign of genuine sincerity would be repeat of those attacks on him, followed by abandonment and search for a new leader, and of course continued attacks.

constraints on a candidate's other behaviors might apply. Or just norms that violation might draw criticism he doesn't want for. Everything's more complex than we know.

Of course, this is a political change and will result in changes of political activities. Whatever those are. He's overdue to publish and push an addition to his many books.

From the article, it is very clear that Bernie Sanders has dropped out. That he will not endorse immediately, and that he won't race to get his name removed from the ballot are probably small potatoes. Don't worry. It is over.

The part that has me concerned is he is going to wait until Joe has the majority, that means Voters still have to show up.

Worry about repeats of WI. The chances of illness

It is just the way Bernie thinks. He figures that if he does not remove his name from the ballot, and Joe Biden gets an aneurysm before he gets a majority of delegates, then Bernie will win. In this very narrow and unlikely scenario, Bernie is probably correct. If something terrible happens to Biden in the next few weeks, Bernie will win the nomination if his name has not been removed from the ballots. This is just Bernie singing Bon Jovi...

"Oh, we're halfway there. Oh, Oh, livin' on a prayer!"

so he can build a lead in delegates rather than suffer the major blowouts he was racking up. He knows his voters will still show up.

They've each given each other space for their announcements, and I believe Warren was trying to not create any more division on the party by endorsing one or the other. She came about as close as one could, in her remarks the other day
