A 'Medicare For All' Question Backfired for FOX At Bernie Sanders' Fox News Town Hall

The audience was not afraid of the 2020 contender’s plan to switch all Americans to a government-run insurance plan.

During a live town hall hosted by Fox News on Monday night, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) responded to a question about why he wants the federal government to provide health insurance for everyone with the usual arguments in favor of a system he calls “Medicare for All.”

He told the largely supportive audience in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, that Medicare is already working well for seniors, and that extending it to the entire population is simply a logical response to problems in the private insurance market.

Bret Baier, a Fox News anchor co-hosting the town hall, followed up by asking the audience how many people currently receive health care coverage from private insurance through their job. A majority of people, including Sanders and Baier, raised their hands.

Then, presumably hoping to show that a transition to public insurance would encounter skepticism, Baier asked the audience how many of those people would want to switch to Medicare for All.

Nearly everyone in the room who had raised their hands raised them again.

I hope this sends a message to the Fox News viewers and the management that the time for this to occur is long overdue.

I have seen 174 threads bashing Bernie for not releasing his taxes, I have seen 39 threads bashing Bernie for going on Fox. Every one of those posts was following the right wing narrative to get us to fight among ourselves.
Now the bashing is about Medicare for all?

My question isn't will Bernie's followers vote for our nominee if he loses, my question is will Bernie haters vote for Bernie when he wins?

Oops, or are you talking about Brett Baer? Sorry.

They asked & got the answer. They did not try to minimize the response from the audience either.
This show wasnt run by Hannity. THAT would have been a joke

5. Did they ask him about workplaces insurance which a majority of voters have?

Why didn't they ask? That is why Medicare for all will be a losing issue in the general for us.

knowing and mentioning cost? What percentage of the people in that audience who have healthcare through employer get it free? If they got it but had to pay for it, then switching wouldn't be a big deal.

I think when you are younger you think Medicare as we know it today is free. But it is not. And you also have to buy supplemental coverage too.

Very complex subject especially on the cost side. How our side presents it is also difficult to know.

Even if it costs a bit, it’s still much better to have a plan that doesn’t tie you to a single employer.
