Kudos to Bernie Sanders for going on Fox News
Democratic candidates should be prepared to be questioned outside the bubble of MSNBC and liberal media, and Republicans should be forced to have their news bubble popped.

1. Agreed
I believe that all the candidates would be wise to do so. I can understand the Party dismissing them as a host for the debates, but the campaigns need to reach out to the Fox Viewers as best as they can do so.
I believe that Yang has already appeared there once or twice from my understanding. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Andrew Yang |

2. He certainly makes any other Democrat who refuses to do what he did look bad.
If this was all a set up to make him or anyone else look bad, it would be so obvious.
Sanders makes himself look strong going on the network that many cannot stand & freely giving his point of view. And neother of those hosts are hacks either. If this had been hosted by Hannity i would think differently. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

25. Knowing Fox, the applause by members of the audience was staged
for the purpose of giving a false sense of support to Bernie in order to influence public opinion, thereby making him the Democratic nominee and ultimately giving Trump the win in the battleground states. They are the masters of manipulation and they had lots of time to plot and prepare for this.
There is no way that Brett Baier would have asked a question that he did not already know the answer to. Everything that Fox hosts have ever done has been strategize and scripted and this is no different. The set-up is glaringly obvious to me. I will never subscribe to Fox News propaganda - but that's just me... ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

According to the NYT, nearly 1/2 of Fox viewers dont even identify as "conservative".
And Independents win elections. A candidate ignores a large pool of voters at their own peril. And how can i criticize a republican for refusing to go on MSNBC or the like if Dems do the same thing? 22. OK, in addition to the FoxNews review of his performance:
Google: "phyrric victory" fox
And this morning Hannity, mocked him and his performance to their fans, who are known for simply agreeing with anything and everything they say. Hannity Scoffs at Fox News’ Bernie Sanders Town Hall: ‘Gee, Let’s Hear Every Possible Communist Idea’ https://www.mediaite.com/tv/hannity-scoffs-at-fox-news-bernie-sanders-town-hall-gee-lets-hear-every-possible-communist-idea/ The review by FoxNews for his performance was mocking him as a hypocrite, and this is likely what FoxNews consumers will think about it, as they believe FoxNews over fact. Bernie Sanders, at combative Fox News town hall, makes no apologies for making millions You will need to google that title and get the link yourself, as I will not link to their website here on DU. It’s unlikely that any Fox viewers will ditch Trump for the Sanders camp. Sanders, after all, said he disagrees with pretty much everything the president stands for. He called Trump “dangerous,” adding that “I don’t think the American people are proud that we have a president who is a pathological liar.” I’m betting that clip won’t show up on “Fox & Friends,” which regularly serves up Trump’s morning nourishment of sycophancy and bootlicking.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2019/04/16/bernie-sanders-fox-news-town-hall-medicare-for-all-abortion-taxes-column/3479747002/ Of course other commentators were laying the groundwork for their fans before the town hall: FOX NEWS HOSTS BLAST BERNIE SANDERS SUCCESSFUL BOOK SALES, CALL HIM 'MILLIONAIRE SOCIALIST' AMID MIDWEST CAMPAIGN https://www.newsweek.com/bernie-sanders-fox-news-millionaire-success-books-sales-socialist-attack-1395628 I think that the takeaway is that Bernie likely didn't gain any fans, nor lose any. People's opinions on him won't change because of this, and he gave FoxNews salespeople something to give advertisers who were on the fence an excuse to go ahead and make a buy. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Elizabeth Warren |

listening to Hannity because of that town hall? Seriously?
You really think that anyone who saw that town hall changed their mind about Bernie - one way or another? If you adore Bernie, you LOVED it, he was BRILLIANT and MAGNETIC and he obviously converted many! If you are lukewarm on Bernie, you are still lukewarm. If you were a FoxNews regular, you went back to watching Hannity and the Fox and Friends call him a wealthy, crazy communo-socialist hypocrite, and agreed with them. ![]() And yes, I gave you a google for a negative review of his performance, which you apparently missed. Everyone has been invited to do the same. If they were totally "unbalanced", no democrat would ever be invited.

Just like they don't care that a good chunk of the public thinks that MSNBC is "biased". What they do care about is content that is considered "too controversial". Which is why certain shows on FOX get hit hard by advertisers who withdraw ads from those shows, not from FOX overall.

The one thing I feel pretty certain about is that while we may not be able to get repugs to vote for a Dem, we can get them to stay home. One less vote for them helps us. I remember back when Doug Jones was running for Session's old seat in AL and while the repugs would not cast votes for him, many repugs were so disgusted/uninspired/angry??? at teen predator Roy Moore that they stayed home that night and did not vote. vote for tRump is a win for our side, whoever our nominee is. Any opportunity to facilitate perspective shifting of those viewers who may be decent, if misled, people is highly valuable. The DNC issued an official statement not long ago clarifying that Democratic politicians need to do what they have to to reach voters, including going on FOX. It specified that refusing to allow FOX to host DNC debates was a specific decision regarding that function and format and should not be generalized

DNC spokesperson Xochitl Hinojosa told The Daily Beast that the DNC believes that "we must reach all voters, including their audience. "
They likely see him as having been an independent, and so they might trust him more than other Democratic candidates. Or they might just want to hear him out. And they're probably listening to their Millennial kids. I've never read the word "embargo" from the DNC. The party's choice not to sponsor appearances doesn't mean they're engaged in an embargo. Buttigieg, Inslee, Yang, Julian Castro have been on Fox, as well. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |
