Donald Trump really isn't happy that Fox News hosted a town hall with Bernie Sanders

(snip)

On Tuesday morning, Trump — who regularly live-tweets Fox News shows, programming that almost always covers him favorably — bemoaned the Fox News event featuring one of the 2020 Democratic frontrunners, and notably used the pronoun “we” while decrying the network’s recent move to hire former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile as a contributor.

(snip)

But despite what Trump would have you believe, Baier was not particularly “nice” to Sanders. As my colleague Dara Lind explained:

Baier and MacCallum’s questions were often rooted in the conservative assumptions that a stereotypical Fox News viewer might have: that cutting the defense budget would “send a message” to other countries that the United States is weak, or that migrant asylum seekers “have to go somewhere” because there’s no room for them in border communities (and therefore, implicitly, that they should go to sanctuary cities). Sometimes, Sanders simply dodged them without any newsworthy gaffes or saying anything that Democratic primary voters might disagree with.

Though the first questioner was a student organizer with the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, most of the audience was on Sanders’s side. By the end of the hour-long town hall, Baier and MacCallum were getting booed.

1. He may be right on the Faux news thing

I was for Perez making the decision to not let Faux do a Dem debate but I'm starting to think maybe candidates should give it a shot (heard Mayor Pete might do one). I don't see how it could hurt and if it could change a few hundred or even a few thousand votes in key states it would help. The great majority of their viewers won't be persuaded but even a few could make a difference. Add: Just saw the ratings were big for it.

4. Bill Maher is always supporting this idea...

Dems go on Fux and get heard by GOP voters like Swalwell has been doing. Since most voters in both parties get most of their campaign info from Fux than any other news station, even the other top three stations combined.

6. I wasn't aware of that

If most Dems and indies watch it too that's another reason to do it.

7. Bernie's appearance changed my mind about appearing on Fox, too

Seeing his responses to the moderators’ biased questions helped me learn more about him. I think all of our candidates should do it.

If it makes Trump have a sad, then this is me —>

9. I'm certain he felt it had too much Bernie and not enough him

He likely feels they should have had him on phone.
Ask Sanders a question and then talk to him (il douche) the rest of the time

10. Poor fat donnie

I noticed the other day a picture of him and his wife, his wife in a sleeveless dress, and poor fat donnie in his long black overcoat, does he feel the cold, or is he trying to hide his fat?

11. I think the Town Hall Format is better

Let the candidates go on one at a time.

The debates can be held on other networks.

14. Yes I second this....

Let the candidates go one on one with FOX and the audience. Debates between the candidates can be done later. Let each candidate decide whether to book w/Fox or not. Not all candidates do well in the Town Hall format.

15. I agree, usually what you hear from the corporate media conglomerate pundits opposed to town halls

is that the audience doesn't ask "tough questions."

Never mind that the people will most likely ask questions pertaining to issues that actually affect their lives, which the CMCs do not want to focus on.

The corporate media conglomerate pundits would much rather remain the gatekeepers to information and the shape-rs of public perception, so they focus on personality, appearance or anything superficial that will distract the public with the critical issues only being addressed on a periphery basis and in some cases never and almost always from a corporate-centric point of view.

They would much rather the people focus on a tree rather than the entire forest.
