A majority of Fox News' town hall audience supports Bernie Sanders' "Medicare for All" proposal"

How many are willing to transition to what the senator says, a government-run system?" Bret Baier asked the crowd.

MATTHEW ROZSA at Salon

https://www.salon.com/2019/04/16/a-majority-of-fox-news-town-hall-audience-supports-bernie-sanders-medicare-for-all-proposal/

"SNIP.....

As Baier polled the studio audience about Sanders' support of "Medicare for All," its vocal enthusiasm for the plan seemed to overshadow the Fox News host's follow-up question.

"I want to ask the audience a question. If you could raise your hand here, a show of hands of how many people get their insurance from work, private insurance right now?" Baier asked. "Now of those, how many are willing to transition to what the senator says, a government-run system?"

After a majority of audience members appeared to raise their hands, Baier attempted to reframe the question by asking Sanders, "There’s 180 million people on private insurance, and they would be lost, right?"

"Fair question. I know it’s what the right wing throws out, so let me answer it, all right? Millions of people every single year lose their health insurance, you know why? They get fired, or they quit and they go to another employer. I was a mayor for eight years, and you know what I did? What probably every mayor in America does is you look around for the best insurance program, the most cost-effective insurance. You change insurance. Every year, millions of workers wake up in the morning, and their employer has changed the insurance that they have. Maybe they liked the doctors. Some people are nodding their heads. OK. So this is not new – every year. Now what we’re talking about actually is stability – that when you have a ‘Medicare for All,’ it is there now and will be there in the future."

......SNIP"

2. Is there evidence to support that allegation? Or are you just supposing that because they support

his policies? Along with 70% of the rest of the country? They weren't enthusiastic because they were a pre selected audience. They were enthusiastic because that is something the vast majority of Americans already have made clear they want.

21. An attendee, Mr. Nassar, said he and 70% of the audience were Bernie supporters

Nassar, who was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, said afterward he didn’t think America should intervene in foreign affairs unless it directly effects our national security.

“I do believe he is America first,” Nassar said of Sanders.

Nassar said he voted for Sanders in the 2016 primary, and was open-minded coming into Monday night’s event. He estimated about 70 percent of the audience was supportive of Sanders.

30. How would they do that exactly?

You can ask folks who you are for, but they can easily lie.
I don't see any evidence of pre-vetting.
I have no idea whether the CNN audience was or was not mostly Bernie supporters, but I don't see any flaw in the logic that, ordinarily, a highly publicized and anticipated candidate appearance is probably going to have a lot of that candidates supporters there...whether it's Bernie or Biden or anyone.

Perhaps they were well-fed. I kid.

The hosts kept the Fox POV present. And Bernie swatted them down. They begged him to stop.

It was clear that the hosts did not expect the enthusiastic response to the Medicare for all question. They looked shook.

35. It matters if one assumes that Bernie was "converting a crowd of FoxNews viewers"

Which is being posited as "proof" of his "wide appeal." Preaching to the choir is something else indeed.

I don't know if the hosts were aware of the push to get Sanders supporters to get tickets, or that the crowd was indeed a Bernie choir.

Did BS defend the Democratic Party platform on abortion? What did he have to say about the Violence against Women Act? How about supporting DREAMers?

Any talk about how he felt regarding turning people away at the border? If so, what was the audience reaction to that?

Did he get into his feelings about gun control? What about diversity and issues that are specifically important to the AA community and other POC? Was that discussed? How did the crowd respond to that?

Did he talk about Russian sanctions?

8. The choice is between a huge bureaucracy designed to deny health care to maximize profit, and a huge

bureaucracy that provides health care. Pretty easy to see what would be best, if not perfect.

I had to switch a my orthopedic surgeon. Not because of Obamacare, but because he wouldn't sign with Aetna. My employer had switched to them and they wouldn't pay the guy what he needed. I had to switch physical therapy for the same reason. Chickenshit bastards.

And the remaining 30% cheered when he said he wanted to build better concentration camps along the border. I guess he pegged his audience pretty well...

Edited to add that I do not necessarily agree with the name of the youtube video, but all the other sources I found were equally horrified by his answer and not ready to mince words in describing the Senator based on it.
