Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSo, Do You Sort of Remember Some Dirt about a Democratic Candidate?
Why not just post it here? It doesn't matter if it's true or not. Just post it and ask if anyone else is "concerned" about it.
It's a great primary strategy, for sure. If you can find some supposed dirt on a candidate you don't support, by all means post it right away in your "concern." That way, the Republicans will be able to find it easily once we have a Democratic nominee.
It's a great way to help out the Republicans, don't you think?
So, dig deeply and post whatever nastiness you can find about any candidate you don't care for. You needn't fact check it or post links to support the claim. Those don't matter. Just get it out there to hurt someone you don't support for the nomination.
What a great idea, eh?

But, hey, all's far in primary races, right. Any dirt is good dirt, true or false, I suppose.

(146,192 posts)That's obvious from the photo at the bottom of this post. I could change my mind, too. Early in 2016, and in 2015, I supported Bernie Sanders, but switched to Hillary before the primary election date. Why? Because I did. I can't remember the exact reasons, but I decided that Hillary would have a better chance to win. As it turned out, she didn't win enough electoral votes, although she won the popular vote.
This year, I'm looking at who I think can win the states Hillary lost in 2016 by narrow margins. I'm a pragmatist, to be quite frank. I just want a Democrat in the White House.

(146,192 posts)What's weird is that when I graduated from high school, I could not wait to move out and move somewhere else. I would never have considered moving back into my parents house in my home town.
At one point, I lived in a little room behind a gas station where I worked part time. There was no way I was going to go home again to live. So, I never did.
I don't get the current trend at all.

(42,210 posts)Seems like they get a pass for much longer. I've seen article with Beto and Mayor Pete (who I like, BTW) referred to by their youth. In the meantime, 12 YO Tamir Rice was murdered for holding a toy gun, in part because he "looked" older.
So, so tired of the double standards in this country.

She's beloved to many of us here for her art history essays, her openness about health challenges and her political posts (although not this one.)

I took the OP simply as a warning to watch out for such critters. If the person you are referring to is the one I think you are, of course she isn't, and I'm not aware of anything she's posted that would suggest otherwise.

(14,516 posts)Though I'm sure it has happened more often, the situation with concern trolling I remember from here was a post written by someone who asked if parents should not be concerned about which bathrooms transgender students are using at their kids' school. That sure bubbled up.
One thing I've noticed, and kudos to all on here, is there are fewer situations where we are doing that to each other's candidates. It just does not feel nearly as divisive to me now as it did during the primary season leading up to the horror of 2016.
Maybe people realize how very much is at stake now.
Every one of our candidates has the proverbial 'elephant in the living room' though. Not a one is perfect, or perfectly electable. To me, our mission will be, as the field narrows into 2020, to figure out counterpoints to the right-wing talking points against those still standing, against Democrats in general and against our policies.
Many on here are thought leaders in their respective communities, and if we talk about how to counter these right-wing attacks together, it will reverse many of them.
I've got one: Whenever a Republican says, "Well how are we going to PAY for a green new deal? Har, har, har," we can counter with, "How did we pay for WWII? The situation was forced on us and we did what we had to do. It is the same with climate change. We must address it now."

(14,516 posts)There's no question.
Do you remember when Turtle had that sham vote in the Senate about the Green New Deal, and the Dems all decided to vote 'present?'
Remember what Mitch told his 'team?' He said, "A vote of 'present' is a vote against jobs!"
That's just a LIE and we need to counter it EVERY TIME we see it. A green new deal would create hundreds of thousands of jobs, we would not all of a sudden stop using oil and gas, so those people wouldn't be laid off right away, and so on. We can't just let them lie and not challenge it line by line.

(2,686 posts)because some 2-bit actor and mob aficionado said so -- and why would such a guy lie? -- maybe it's time to take a close look at any candidate who has ever said anything in praise of Bobby Kennedy. I mean, if you praise a murderer, doesn't that say something about your lack of qualifications for the presidency? Doesn't it mean that you just might possibly have assisted in the murder itself? And if one murder, how many others?
(Hmmm, maybe all candidates should be asked, at the debates, if they thought Bobby Kennedy was a good man even though it's been proven that he obviously murdered at least one person?)
