Ana Navarro: Joe Biden is normal -- and that sounds really good to me

Last edited Thu Apr 25, 2019, 02:00 AM - Edit history (1)

https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/24/opinions/joe-biden-is-normal----and-that-sounds-really-good-to-me-navarro/index.html

I am begging and pleading with Democrats not to screw this up. Please nominate someone who can win, someone that can unite the Democratic base, energize the Obama coalition and not alienate right-leaning independents and Trump-rejecting Republicans (like me).

-snip-

Joe Biden brings a lot to the table. He is everything Trump is not. He knows policy. He is a uniter. He calls for our better angels. He is empathetic and draws on his own grief to console and encourage others through theirs. He laughs easily. He is decent. He is devoted to his wife, and she is to him. Gold-leaf and wealth do not define him. He is not perfect and he has the humility to accept that.

Joe Biden is not a shiny new toy. He is not flashy. He is not going to set hearts racing. He is comfortable, knowledgeable, experienced, reliable and dependable. We know what we're getting with him. He inspires a feeling of trust and confidence.

He is normal.

After the chaos and turmoil of the last three years under Trump, "normal" sounds really good to me.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Every last one of them, even the two or three I don't care for. Normal people. republicans choose trumpft in the primary, and in the general they voted for him in droves. Maybe it's time for you to consider what "normal" means to republicans.

It's not up to democrats to pick a candidate you like. It's up to you to convince your fellow republicans to either vote democratic or stay home.

not even enough to qualify for a debate.

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/jeb-bush-surges-lead-gop-pack-new-2016-poll

*** Jeb leads the GOP pack: A brand-new national NBC/WSJ poll finds Jeb Bush leading the crowded Republican presidential field, with 22% of GOP primary voters saying he’s their first choice. He’s followed by Scott Walker at 17%, Marco Rubio at 14%, and Ben Carson at 11%. While Jeb had a similar five-point lead in our April NBC/WSJ poll, you see his current position has strengthened when you look inside the numbers of this new poll. (It was conducted during the buildup and coverage of Bush’s official presidential announcement on June 16.) The latest survey shows him ahead among self-identified conservative GOP primary voters – when he was in third place in April behind Rubio and Walker. And as we unveiled on Sunday, 75% of Republican primary voters in our new poll say they could see themselves supporting Bush – up from 70% in April and 49% in March. Bottom line: While Jeb has plenty of potential problems to overcome (his last name, his positions on immigration and Common Core, his desire to run a general-election campaign instead of one aimed at GOP primary voters), this poll is very good news for him.

*** Who gets left off that first debate stage? The NBC/WSJ poll measured 16 GOP candidates in our horserace question. And here are the 10 Republicans who make our poll’s Top 10 – the criteria being used for the first GOP debate in August – and the six who get left off:

Jeb Bush 22%
Scott Walker 17%
Marco Rubio 14%
Ben Carson 11%
Mike Huckabee 9%
Rand Paul 7%
Rick Perry 5%
Ted Cruz 4%
Chris Christie 4%
Carly Fiorina 2%
Donald Trump 1%
Lindsey Graham 1%
John Kasich 1%
Bobby Jindal 0%
Rick Santorum 0%
George Pataki 0%

will play out exactly the way they are suppose to and in the end we will have a very powerful ticket.

Whatever happens, I believe Americans are going to vote for calm and lawfulness. I’m optimistic.

Does Ana Navarro think Elizabeth Warren is a "shiny new toy"? That she is not "knowledgeable, experienced, reliable and dependable"? I think Navarro, being a Republican, knows that what she'll be getting with Biden is corporate-friendly policies. None of that wacky, forgive-student-debt stuff. Or horrors, a 2% tax on the 0.1 percent of wealthy Americans.

With more and more repubs walking away from the trumplican rhetoric I'm hoping that in this coming election they will actually cast votes with us Dems (Biden or not) like Navarro did in the last one. Trump went after our disenfranchised voters, we must go after his.

...I wish they all could be part of the next administration.

But as gawd/gawdess is my witness, I would vote for a pretzel as long as the pretzel could/would wallop the tar out of tRump*. I will support OUR Democratic nominee through thick and thin. I will do WHATEVER I CAN to make sure that NOXIOUS PILE OF SHIT is purged from the White House.
