Joe Biden Takes on Trump Right out of the Gate

I was very pleased to see him go after Trump directly in his launch video. That, I believe, will be a winning strategy for him, and it's one most of the other candidates have avoided using.

You Go, Joe!

primary today, I would vote for:

2. That is why he is "Champ"

Never one to back down after taking a punch. Always one to get back on his feet. And he can throw a punch back just as hard in defense of principles. Because principles are what is at stake here, and Donald Trump has none.

3. Running on principles is also a very good choice.

Voters in all categories will understand and support that approach. He has to do a lot more, of course, but I think the video was a good start and set the stage for a very good campaign from VP Biden.

6. Well, maybe not that, but he'll continue to point out the damage

Trump has done to this nation, while offering ideas on how to reverse that and make the nation better.

Trump is the opponent, not the other Democratic candidates. Biden knows that, and that will be his focus.

I wish the same would be true for the rest of the pack. We're going to start seeing Biden oppo stuff immediately from some of the rest of the Democratic hopefuls. That, I think, will be a losing strategy for them, though.

7. Yes I believe he made the right move

I love his video, it's going to appeal to ALL Democrats, not just the ones who lean for him.
Joe has already shown us that he can go the distance.

8. That's an important point - All Democrats

There's a lot of factionalism out there in the primary race. Everyone's looking for support from specific groups of Democratic voters. While I understand that strategy, especially early in the primary campaign, I also understand that nobody can capture all of a demographic group, and there are many, many such groups out there.

A broad-based campaign strategy seems to me to be a better idea, especially for a well-known candidate like Biden. As he continues to campaign, he'll speak to the issues that are important to individual groups, but will maintain his broad focus on basic principles that have worked well for Democrats all along.

What he has to do now is win primary elections and gain delegates to the convention next summer. He has to do that in every state, and a broad approach is the best way to accomplish that, with appeals to large blocs of voters happening simultaneously. I think he can manage to do that in a way most of the primary candidates cannot.
