For those who are concerned about Biden's two prior runs for the nomination....

I was reminded today of the following:

Reagan tested the 1968 presidential waters as part of a "Stop Nixon" movement, hoping to cut into Nixon's southern support and become a compromise candidate if neither Nixon nor second-place candidate Nelson Rockefeller received enough delegates to win on the first ballot at the Republican convention. However, by the time of the convention, Nixon had 692 delegate votes, 25 more than he needed to secure the nomination, followed by Rockefeller with Reagan in third place.

In 1976, Reagan challenged incumbent President Gerald Ford in a bid to become the Republican Party's candidate for president. Ford won.

I, like others, have concerns about Biden's prior two runs before. I would think a candidate learns a few things each time he runs. Also, there are just circumstances that come together against a win for a particular candidate, through no fault of his own. Let's face it, no one had a serious chance against Obama.

I'll be paying close attention to the debates. His announcement by video, although unusual, was perfect, IMO. He presented himself with the seriousness that this time in history deserves. The camera closed in on him, as if he were speaking one on one. You could see his eyes as he spoke of what could happen with a second term by Trump.

I can't wait for the debates to start in June.

4. Thank you for this, Honeycombe8

Those worried about Biden's other attempts at running for POTUS are not taking into consideration that he now has 8 years experience in a working and successful Obama Admin. Along with all the Foreign Policy that entailed.

Things change and it's best to acknowledge that, and not act like his 8 years as VP didn't happen.

6. Excellent point.

And not to put too fine a point on it, he was so excited that Obama chose him. No sour grapes. And he happily served as #2 to the first Af. American President to the point that they became bffs. (Well, Obama is mixed race, but to racists, it's the same thing.)

His eight years in the Obama administration, during the Great Recession, dealing with total obstruction by the Republicans, the wars still going on, and all the rest - that's pretty weighty experience.

5. The only people who seem concerned with Biden's two previous candidacies are those who see....

....Biden as a threat to their candidate.

13. It seems to be a personal attack on me. It's a new poster (last mo.)..he doesn't understand...

that he can look and see I've been a poster here for over 10 years and paid for the privilege (the star).

He also didn't read the OP, or he would have seen it's a favorable-Biden post. He just read the subject line. He's trying to up his post count.
